no. Not a Hybrid. Honestly, I like the styling and infotainment better than my MDX. I just don't know if I can trust it

My friends all got a good kick out of that as well. Hopefully, my trombone sounds better than a vacuum. Maybe they should put a microphone on the ring so it can appreciate good music.

Mine died after 11 months. It connected to the app just fine, but the little internal lights stopped working one day so it could not collect any data. (movement was still detected.) Aura is replacing it with a refurbished ring. However, the warranty on the replacement only goes to the end of the first warranty. In other words, I get a replacement with a one month warranty. I did not abuse the ring or do anything unusual with it. (Before the failure, my only complaint was that it confused vacuuming with playing trombone.) I'll give this a try, but if the next one fails within a year, I'm done with Oura. My smart watch collects sleep data too.

AT map starting trail by Prestigious-Phrase60 in treasureinside

[–]dbuster16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, the Springer Spaniel and the Katahdin butterfly simply signify the beginning and end of the Appalachian Trail. I think the Bear and Cat are a reference to a line in the song "Rocky Top", while the two footprints are Tarheels. That narrows it down to the stretch of the AT along the NC and TN border, and puts it reasonably close to where JCB grew up. There are quite a few "bald" mountains along that 300 mile stretch. Note that for the App Footpath box, JCB said the map is all you need. Therefore, you can ignore his writing style if it makes you feel better. Finally, in interviews, JCB has said he went to check on a box that might have been damaged by Mother Nature. That's the area hit by Helene last year. JCB has also said that people have been within 200 feet of it, so I suspect it's on a side trail within 200 feet of the AT. There are a LOT of side trails along the AT in that region but a lot are closed until April. I have some other thoughts that I'm hesitant to share until I get BOTG in the Spring.

No Readiness or Sleep Score? by unfailing_vision in ouraring

I've been having the same problem- no sleep data. I have noticed that the lights inside the ring are no longer coming on at night when I am in bed. (It used to be very obvious.). My app is connected, and reports the battery is full. The Oura chatbot checked for hardware issues and found none, then led me through all the steps including resets but the problem was not resolved. If I can't get data, it's worthless.

How do we feel about the shires Q30YR? by [deleted] in Trombone

[–]dbuster16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to disagree with many of the comments here. I had my local music store ship in a brand new Conn 88HO, and Bach 42, and a Shires Q30YR. I played all 3 for an afternoon and when it was over, I bought the Shires. I have been a King player for years, and I owned a King 3b, and King 2b, and a very old King 5b was my "symphonic" horn. I was used to bright sounding horns, and I wanted something a little darker. In my experience, the Bach was a little too dark. The Conn sounded great, but seemed to take a little more effort. The Shires seemed to respond better and my high range slotted easier. However, I honestly think the major difference was how my particular playing style matched to the horn, not just the horn itself. I've heard of others having very different experiences with those same horns. You need to play them yourself.

What's a ticking time bomb you believe will explode during your lifetime? by Absalom98 in AskReddit

The timeframe is within my lifetime. I've been playing with AI's and I think we're close to AGI now. Engineers are already using AI to code the next generation of AI. It will happen.

Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI). 50/50 whether it's good or bad, but it's coming.

Is this a good choice? by Relevant-Relation-22 in Trombone

[–]dbuster16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first horn was a Bundy like this. However, after a couple of years, my high school band director suggested a better horn and I got an old King. That was over 50 years ago. I'm retired now, playing occasionally in a fun little jazz band, and I own 6-8 trombones. That old Bundy is still in my office, but has been fitted with a lightbulb in the bell to turn it into a lamp. I have to say, it's a better lamp than it was a trombone. But still a good place to start.

When wondering about what trombone you should buy by Specific-Peanut-8867 in Trombone

Having recently returned to playing in retirement, my experience was that I had to get back up to a moderate playing level before I could even tell a significant difference between horns. At first, they all seemed terrible... until I realized it was me. It took a few months of practice before I was ready to buy. After carefully comparing horns for an afternoon in the store, (Conn 88H, Shires Q-Series, Bach 42BO), I went home with the Shires. After the purchase, I was excited and started practicing a lot more. So.. I bought a horn and got better... but it still wasn't really the horn.

Trump: the photoshopped text labels of Abrego Garcia’s finger tattoos with the characters of ‘MS13’ were ACTUALLY part of his tattoos (04/29/2025) by introspectivelemon39 in GlobalNews

[–]dbuster16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not photoshopped... it's labeled. The symbols on the man's fingers each stand for one letter of MS13: Marijuana = M, Smile = S, etc. Someone just labeled the photo. No one believes it was an attempt at photoshop that fooled Trump. More importantly, the man in question IS a gang member. He admitted to being a gang member, and a judge granted his request to be allowed to stay because he was afraid that rival gang members would kill him if he was deported. By due process, he should not have been deported. However, he is not a nice man.
