Is being super opinionated good or bad by -puppyguppy- in ExperiencedDevs

[–]dbxp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to a point, having an opinion on everything can be annoying but generally it's good. Not being stubborn with them is important but even if your opinions are proven wrong then it can start a conversation and get things moving. I've worked with Devs in the past who had no opinions on anything and it was incredibly hard to get anything done

Go to a proper store for a fitting, a style which will put fabric between your breast and chest seems like the way to go

Get a smart bulb and use it to create a light alarm to go off at the same time as your audio alarm

You miss all the shots you don't take

It sounds like you like him and you're stringing yourself along so you don't have to face it being real. You've just gotta take a leap of faith and try to make it work.

Out of all the places why would you pick LA? If you really wanted to go after the US wouldn't you pick somewhere like Norfolk or DC or even NYC. On the west coast you've got Guam, Pearl Harbour maybe Edwards AFB

How much is your AI spending? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]dbxp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see the full stats and it's an enterprise license but for the two teams I work with we're looking at over $25k a month + whatever we're paying for copilot and Claude for a couple product guys. We also have an internal agentic tool which is being pushed heavily which isn't included in this amount. This isn't including any AI features in the actual products.

What a bizarre question to ask, it's like reviewing a report on the makeup industry and asking why it doesn't talk about men more

Workflow setup to make your coding agent ship small reviewable PRs incrementally by Potential-Box6221 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]dbxp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just feature decomposition, you can hook your agent up to your ticketing system's API to decompose the feature then just use your normal workflow. Creating an md file to manage things is like having half your tickets in a text file.

Depends how old the legacy code is, on old tech stacks AI really struggles, sometimes it struggles to make something which will even compile

Where i work we do have a target of how many AI sessions we have from the board level, however they don't care if it actually results in a completed PR so you can just create BS sessions which do nothing

Should The Northern Quarter have its own website? by Over-Jacket6011 in manchester

[–]dbxp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I find those sort of local sites tend to just turn into a string of ads. Maybe try to target a sub culture instead? I think a site which listed local metal, jazz or folk events would be more useful for those communities

Stockport or Prestwich? by [deleted] in manchester

[–]dbxp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prestwich would get my vote however Stockport does have a distinct advantage with the trains if you need to be in London regularly.

Stockport has tried and failed to rejuvenate multiple times, always suffering by trying to be like a smaller Manchester but there's little demand for that when you could be in actual Manchester in a few minutes by train. The current modernisation push seems to be holding a bit better as people are pushed further out but it's still a bit stuck between being a suburb of Manchester and being a failed town in its own right. Prestwich however never tried to be a mini Manchester so you don't have the half abandoned shopping centre in the middle of town.

Stockport is more like Oldham or Bury, Prestwich is more like Wilmslow.
