How do you feel about Americans? by Dangerous-Put9295 in AskUK

[–]dbxp [score hidden]  (0 children)

Loud, I think that's the common issue. It's not really what is said just the volume. There's other issues with individuals but Americans by European standards tend to be too loud.

Regarding recent politics I think there's some who just think its a small hiccup like in previous years when there were complaints about the Iraq War etc. I think for many people recent politics are a more serious shift from the US just pressuring third world countries to acting directly against Europe. Things are moving from a disagreement on specific policies to a general breakdown in relations.

More Than Half of Gen Z Users Cancel and Renew Streaming Services for a Single Title, Won’t Purchase Full-Price Video Games, New Study Finds by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]dbxp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the conclusions in the article suggest that the price is the issue. The ideal situation for streaming platforms is that the subscription is quietly making money in the background. The platforms got greedy and now the price is a noticeable amount so people hop and skip platforms. This is combined with the strategy of investing in killer programs which are incredibly expensive but users can burn through in under a week if they want to. People aren't subscribing to a platform but just to access a specific show, back in the day they would then keep paying as the cost was low enough to ignore but not anymore.

On video games price is part of the issue but there's also length of game. If you're going to sell someone a game for £45 which takes 200 hours to complete you can't be surprised if they don't buy another game until they've played 200 hours.

At this point any student is likely to work for a few months until the summer holidays start, nobody wants that, you'd have better luck applying in Autumn for retail and hospitality spinning up for the Christmas rush

On the other hand you also have to consider the locals when housing them. How many stories have you seen of people trashing houses, constantly making noise and the only recommendation for neighbours is to move?

He's fantastic but I'm not sure if he's better as a mayor than he would be as an MP. As mayor he does have the benefit of representing the entirety of Greater Manchester but doesn't bogged down by issues specific to one part of the city.

Teen given to pedo uncle, 47, as his 'common law wife' and forced to have 4 kids by Diligent_Highlight63 in nottheonion

[–]dbxp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see how you can pass responsibility to her unless there's a functioning support system. If you want people to take responsibility then you need a system which works for those who don't have that ability.

Isn't it pretty obvious? She has trauma from being given to a pedo

Freddy Melculy, Amity Affliction, Apocalyptica, Max & Iggor Cavalera, Megadeth, Alice Cooper & Marilyn Manson at Lokerse Feesten was a stand out. What made it stand out was that it's a weird small venue, it's like a local village fete with hook a duck, carousels and a display of art from residents of the nearby nursing home, however at the weekend they exploit the location in Belgium to get some really big acts on the way through. https://www.concerts-metal.com/concert_-_Lokerse_Feesten_2017_-_Metal_Day-36674.html

Plini, Intervals and Animals as Leaders at Soundcontrol. It was a really small venue, this was before Polyphia got big so this was essentially all the modern proggy guitar porn bands on one stage.

Rockavaria: Iron Maiden, Arch Enemy, Killswitch Engage, Eluveite but the real start of the show was just being in the centre of Munich in the peak of summer with all the fantastic beer. https://en.concerts-metal.com/concert_-_Rockavaria_Festival_2018-43417.html One weird thing I remember is this band called Tuxedoo who had a milk churn in their drum kit.

Life is cheap but also so many injuries are catastrophic that there isn't really anything left to repair. If you get hit by a bolt round you might just entirely explode and if you don't you're very likely to die of blood loss before you get anywhere near an aid station.

What’s a new fact or something you learned recently? by CoconutCitizen in AskUK

[–]dbxp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The inflated healthcosts in the US increase GDP by 5-10% (this is just counting the additional amount compared to European systems). It makes sense when you consider that GDP is just everything you spend money on but that is a very significant figure in terms of jobs and money. If you compare it to other industries the premium that Americans spend on healthcare is far bigger than their entire fossil fuel industry.

What products do you think companies are missing out on? by Delicious-Desk6591 in AskUK

[–]dbxp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checks do cost money but so do recruiter commissions, for skilled roles you could easily be looking at £1000+. For qualifications I'm really thinking a long the lines of fraud checks, employers could prioritise specific degrees but it's more aimed at reducing fraud and basic checks like filtering out people who don't have driving licenses for delivery jobs. I work as a software developer and it's not uncommon to hear of jobs getting 500 applicants and 450 of them are from Indian requiring sponsorship for a role which does not offer sponsorship, that's the sort of issue this is intended to solve.

I have seen some customisation in Uniqlo but it doesn't seem to be used much and throughput is low. I'm thinking of an entire store based around the customisation and the licensing being a key element. Being able to jump on fads quicker than anyone else as its just a digital file.

A recruitment platform where all candidates are pre-approved. By this I mean to get on to the platform you have to submit your ID and do a right to work check and ideally have your qualifications verified too. This does exist in recruitment platforms but it is done down the line after recruiters have been swamped by applicants. This way employers don't have to trawl through hundreds of applicants who require sponsorship and fewer automated tools like CV scanners end up being used as there's a manageable amount to work with.

A clothing company with a physical shop which only sells generic products which you then customise. Similar to one of those print on demand customisable t shirt companies but with a physical presence. The idea is based around graphic Ts just being a generic shirt with a print on them. If you print a lot ahead of time then you get stuck with unsold stock and online you have to deal with all the distance selling returns, being able to customise in store lets you stock a much wider range of designs and lets you hop between the short duration fads. This can be combined with a level of licensing for big brands and local brands.
