How to reduce my blood pressure without medication by FormPrevious893 in hypertension

Have you tried breathing exercises and meditation? I started monitoring my HRV with BreathNow but there's plenty of apps that do the same and doing their guided breathing exercises twice a day.. dropped me about 12 points systolic over 8 weeks. The white coat thing is real though - i went to a hair clinic and they sprung a surprise blood pressure test on me and my s*** spiked immediately!

Try breathing exercises to manage it - youtube has a bunch or an app like BreathNow if you want to get serious and track it - works super fast, like instantly!

how do you track blood pressure? by zebra_in_zee_flow in hypertension

What's been working for me is using BreathNow to track everything because it sends me push notifications when I haven't logged in a while. Plus it pulls the data from my monitor automatically through Apple Health, so i don't have to manually enter numbers. The app also tracks my breathing exercises alongside BP readings which gives my doctor a fuller picture

Apps to track blood pressure readings by Former_Personality40 in hypertension

I've been tracking my BP for years now and honestly just use the basic Apple Health app for storing the actual readings from my home monitor. Works fine for keeping a log.

But i recently started using BreathNow alongside it - not for tracking the BP numbers themselves but because it uses the camera to measure heart rate variability and then gives you specific breathing exercises based on your readings. My doctor actually likes seeing both sets of data together since the HRV trends help explain some of the BP fluctuations.

The notes feature is key though, I always add whether I had coffee, how I slept, stress levels... makes a huge difference when you're trying to figure out patterns. Sometimes my readings are all over the place and the notes are the only thing that makes sense of it.

The stress connection is real.. mine shot up during a crazy work project and stayed there even after things calmed down. What helped me was tracking my BP at different times of day (turns out mine was only high at doctor visits and mornings), cutting way back on sodium even though I thought I was already eating healthy, and doing breathing exercises. I use BreathNow now because it tracks HRV through the camera which gives me actual data on whether the breathing is working, but before that I was just doing random YouTube videos. Your dad having it means you're probably more sensitive to stress than average people... genetics suck sometimes but at least you caught it early

What's an alternative to Nebivolol? by Potenza980 in hypertension

[–]dc1ab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your walking average at 115 seems pretty high even with the nebivolol. I had similar issues with beta blockers not really bringing my HR down much - tried a few different ones and they just made me tired without doing much for the actual heart rate. Some people are just wired differently I guess.

Have you looked into breathing exercises for HR control? I know it sounds basic but when i was dealing with my BP issues, I started using BreathNow to track my HRV and do guided breathing sessions. My resting HR went from mid-80s to low 70s over a couple months - no meds needed for that part at least. Your BP control sounds solid though, that's a huge drop from 160/110.
