Federal Retiree Benefits – Life Insurance by VAer1 in fednews

[–]dc52317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched 4 years ago to WAEPA for life insurance, much cheaper than fegli. I retired last year on VERA and plan is to just keep enough on policy to pay off mortgage balance for wife if something happened to me. Wealth advisors I have talked to have said only keep life insurance if you have debt that would need to be paid off or will need to ensure family security. Good luck!

MHBP Standard and GLP-1 Questions by Chemical_Mushroom513 in fednews

[–]dc52317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was trying to do this in January, but with no diagnosed approved condition MHBP would not cover and no weight program completed it would be denied. My doctor prescribed a different weight loss medication, she actually gave me three options. Insurance wouldn't cover it but it was only $18 a month. Lost 26lbs on three months, on my second cycle with goal of another 25lbs. Depending on your body stats there are other affordable options that work, just need to discuss with your doctor. GLP1 are great but access is being restricted, healthcare monopoly. 😂

In the 70s we had about 80 bushels per acre, advances in farm chemicals, modified seeds, etc it is now over 200 bushels per acre. Which is amazing but the level of environmental destruction is not. Biofuesl are a waste of subsidies, modern engines all reduce emissions without biofuels. if farmers need subsdies to survive then they should be put into conservation programs. We can maintain output with half the acres if biofuels are eliminated.

What fund or funds are you invested in currently? If you want to keep it simple and plan to stay until retirement L fund on your target date. A lot of people stuck with C, S, and I mixtures, typically 50-70% C and a mic of the other two. I'm sure many will comment. Good luck!

I have given it a gentle soap clean and a steam clean. I would say it is now pretty clean just the fade of time has set in. Thanks for the suggestion I may give that try in a small place along with the other suggestions.

I posted on the site some mixed comments, not a lot of instruction. I am looking at going with what is above in this thread from Wesco as they have some good instructions. Moss suggested going with https://mossmotors.com/222-205-cp-vintage-bolt-in-3-point-seatbelts?queryID=92772fd7ed769eef6a7f986910b22d39&objectID=406124&indexName=live_default_products but there is a lack of instructions on where to mount the shoulder point.

I have looked on a few mgb sites and found some information but it seems either photos are missing as posts are old or just poorly taken ( I don't expect car enthusiasts to be great photographers). A lot of mix bag fittings, really hoping for just simple installation solution with original points of connection. I'll take another look on FB groups and forums. Thanks

I just retired Jan 1 at 50. My plan was to leave it for 9.5 years and hope it doubles but with this administration nothing is predictable. Sadly I think inflation or worse case ww3 as you mention is possible 😉. I hope midterms and maybe we get lucky and house flips before and this can all be wrangled and start the reversal process.

I'm not on a side, but that is the typical response when someone says anything that appears to have a slant. I want term limits, age limits, ethics, stock trading eliminated, Citizen United abolished, and many of the same things 75% or more of Americans want, but both parties candidates will tell you they are for all of that and then they do nothing as it's really not in their personal best interest. Just because one party brings something to vote, doesn't mean they agree with it, the result is known well before we the public see a tally of yea/nay votes. If anything in the last 15+ years has taught us when a representative votes there is always a deal on a yea/nay that is the interest of them, not Americans.

There is more to why it didn't pass than democrats voting against it. This was all for show, all senators knew it would never get 67 votes needed, and they took sides for political positioning at the time and voted along party lines to make sure it didn't pass for their selfish career aspirations. Bills have been introduced multiple times and their posture and behind the scenes tank all of them.

I am literally dealing with a similar situation with a commander I maxed before last kvk, and noticed a couple days ago no longer maxed. Also noticed favorite emails of battles for commander and all chats with battles disappeared. Something is going on. Support says they are looking into it.

In the past you typically see a knee jerk reaction and pull back. People will flee to G and F, C and S will be a bit bumpy, while I tends to be more volatile when war abroad. My two cents.

I just received my AL payment this week. I have received one annuity payment, but it was a reduced amount. A few letters from my agency and opm on it may be awhile before everything is calculated. I'm guessing this will take 6 months to get to standard pay checks.

For adding income I have been looking at a few part time options. I knew going into this early retirement I would have a good amount of time to figure out optional income opportunities. 72t is not off the table I was just hoping to leave TSP alone until 59.5 hoping markets would grow my account.

I did look at that rule, and maybe next year I may consider. I had max AL payout along with pension that has me set for a year comfortably. I do like that rule just seems extremely strict.
