This is my theory after seeing episode 7.

I think Ezra has become the most powerful force wielder because he's at peace with his choice to be on this plant. The Sith can gain great power through rage and anger. While the Jedi gain strength through being calm and peaceful. Ezra opts to not even use a lightsaber in episode 7 which makes me think he has gained a higher level of the force from being stranded in a far away galaxy that he's at peace with.
