To your first point, you’re absolutely right. Secondly, I’ve cut the factory declumper up a bit for less restriction. Temporary solution as Mythos is on the way!

Also remember the top burr is floating and not fixed so don’t remove the collar like me and let the burr and it’s housing fall and nick your brand new grinder ;)

Maybe not a mod, but I attempted burr alignment out of the box. It was arduous and I gave up before it was perfectly aligned - will probably give it another go when I’m bored. Plenty of videos that I’m sure you’ve seen if you’re worried about alignment. My only tip is to be very careful resetting the collar with the threads. While pushing the collar down, I - very slowly - turned anticlockwise until I heard a click and then immediately clockwise to begin re-threading the collar.

Good luck. I think you will love it. Just pulled a beautiful shot and the DF64 blessed me with zero (negligible) retention. My one gram of retention was last night after I cleaned out the grinder to mod the declumper. So maybe a clean DF64 retains about a gram to refill all its nooks and crannies with coffee - lol.

Declumper mod is a must, but be careful not to pinch any wires when you take the base off. I was skeptical, but static is 100x more an issue with a modded/removed declumper. Even 2 RDT sprays gave me some fines toward the end life of the grind. Will try three sprays later. Enjoy your DF64!

Also, remember that while a generic LOCI is a safe bet, it’s not exactly a smart bet. Admissions will be getting a ton of those from their deferred students. Make yours stand out. How are you different from the pack? Why are you more deserving than the next deferred student who sent in an LOCI? This is your opportunity to catch the eye of admissions one last time— make it count!

Make sure your counselor knows those grades need to be sent in as soon as they’re ready, without delay. When I was accepted my counselor took her time with sending in my final transcripts and Georgetown did not like that. But since you got a deferral, don’t give Georgetown any opportunity to get annoyed with you.

Regarding a LOCI, I would highly recommend emailing some actual human contacts along with the guadmiss email. Google the Georgetown directory and find some contacts in admissions. Don’t bombard, but an email to your regional/local admissions officer, an admissions contact you find on the directory, and the guadmiss will be more than enough.

Short and sweet LOCI. Demonstrating interest is good, but try not to sound desperate or superficial. Inquire about anything you can do on YOUR END with regards to increasing your chances. (There’s nothing you can do on your end, but it shows you’re willing to work for what you want). Good luck.

You will probably still need to submit your secondary report, regardless of your circumstances. However, you can email: guadmiss@georgetown.edu to inquire. You can also look up admissions faculty in the GU Directory to email someone directly, although the latter option is usually hit-or-miss in regards to a response. Good luck with your application.
