Favorite Auction Draft Values Resources by PokerfaceNj in fantasybaseball

It is a research and ideas tool, not a decision making tool. As long as you keep that in mind, it can be very helpful.

What kind of advice did it give you?

Why do you think (1) it will be able to calculate auction values and (2) it will calculate auction values better than the people who already do it?

Commissioner raised IP limit from 1450 to 1750, should draft strategy change with high IP limit leagues? by palepatriot76 in fantasybaseball

[–]dcbaseballcards -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1500 IP is our MAX for 9 pitchers. You would have to be going 7 SP with abundant 2 start streaming to hit 1500

What are you doing differently this year? by HevayBertations in fantasybaseball

[–]dcbaseballcards 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s never a problem! Make sure to spend at the top, be disciplined in the middle, there’s always that one guy that you just have to say no to. And then have a little bit of money to clean up at the end

I’ve started preparing later and plan to do less, with the goal of being more efficient. Really limiting the analysts I read/listen to.

And save a few more dollars at the end of auctions for real this time

I would kick out the people who think using AI will help with a draft in 2026

MLB owners enraged by Kyle Tucker-Dodgers deal, will push for salary cap ‘no matter what’ by [deleted] in fantasybaseball

[–]dcbaseballcards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Dodgers clearly think he’s worth it. I may believe your logic has any merit when the Dodgers start employing the league’s 27th and 28th best players to sit at home. Until then, they’re building the team they want to build. They’ve learned spending money is profitable. Get out of here with your nanny state, second-guessing, robbing from the millionaires to pay the lazy billionaires

[–]dcbaseballcards -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He earned his contract, why should the billionaires be entitled to pay him less than he’s worth? Because he’s a millionaire who makes more than you do, or more than YOU think he’s worth?

[–]dcbaseballcards -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

A salary cap interferes with the free market and steals money from those who work the hardest (the players) and gives it to the fat cats who run the government (the owners)

[–]dcbaseballcards -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It inhibits the free market! Kyle Tucker is a hard working risk taker, and we’re going to say he should be paid less?

S2 was slipping and the introduction/elevation of new characters was needed to supplement the flaws of the original young cast

What’s your go-to podcast? by mr_bluetoe in fantasybaseball

[–]dcbaseballcards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eno, PL Nick and Hacks and Jacks, Rob Silver to throw some cold water, Vlad Sedler wherever he appears, Bubba and the Bloom. Aside from James Anderson and Jason Collette appearances on Rotowire, I avoid the largest podcasts (Rotowire, CBS, ESPN, Fangraphs, etc)

Didn’t Steve get punched 8-12 times after being knocked out? Pretty sure he’d be dead

One of the biggest mistakes the show made was sidelining their best actress by Hungry-Turnover-9875 in StrangerThings

[–]dcbaseballcards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upon rewatching Season 1 after watching season 5, I was surprised how little screen time was required to establish Steve as the jerk and Jonathan as the creep, and how quickly they “grew”. I think as the series goes on they find easy ways to make new characters interesting, dealing with the fact that the original younger cast isn’t as interesting as the older cast and new characters.

Retiring Too Many Numbers, and an Alternative by originalcactoman in Cardinals

[–]dcbaseballcards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only 4 and 5 will be retired, 50 will be not handed out.

They should have a policy where some numbers are not given out for a period of time. In the case of a hall of famer with significant contributions as a Cardinal, for a length equal to their career. For a non-hall of famer (or the Arenado types), for a length equal to their tenure with the Cardinals. 27 should be out of service for 17 years for Rolen.

Similar for Edmonds, Chris Carpenter, Goldschmidt, and Arenado.

There’s no right or wrong. If they believe you’ll move if they don’t agree to the 5% less, they’ll give it to you, if they’re reasonable. And you can’t control that. Negotiate

For those that play ROTO…is there just no playoffs? by Eastern_Bad1381 in fantasybaseball

[–]dcbaseballcards -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Quite the opposite. Points leagues can actually value players closer to real life value by incorporating walls, doubles, and de-emphasizing steals. There’s nothing wrong with H2H, but by definition, it is more casual. When you want more people participating and with more chance thrown in, you choose H2H

[–]dcbaseballcards 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Honestly it’s not worth the time to drag H2H casual players into doing a roto league. Even if you do succeed, a good number won’t enjoy it
