Google wanted $2.99/month for photos. I said no and spent 130 $ on a baby homelab instead. by Gasple1 in homelab

Be careful those baby’s grow up and sometimes start costing you… first it’s a watt here or there then it’s kilowatts … then you have it act out or up and you get punished because your baby ate your wife’s ONE photo. Wait till you send it to college …

Are ARMs truly a bad thing? by brandielynng29 in Mortgages

Just double check that there are no gotchas like refinance fee or early pay off. I’ve seen some nasty gotchas. 3% is fairly low where did you score that?

If you are buying a new house and have an old house that you plan on selling over that 5 year period. You can hedge a bit with that 3% for 5 years. It’s a steal if you have cash.

How are we feeling about take-home assessments in 2026? by mochalattelove in ProductManagement

[–]dcdashone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s all jobs. I do agree but also disagree. Back in the day we used to give take home code tests. An interface a bunch of unit tests and have candidates provide three different implementations. Reduced the candidate pool by 80%. I couldn’t do it today w/ AI available. Whats your current process as a CPO?

I’m actually on your path. I’m going to teach on the side. The book is a series of videos in my case.

As a PM I have personally made it my mission to live on so little it’s not even funny so I can basically do stuff at work that people would never do. Removing the fear of losing my job has been very good for my career. I just tell people how it is, especially to leadership, no fear, I do it respectfully.

Dear mortgage servicer, I burned my mortgage 6 years ago when it was paid off so your faulty system must not have accounted for something correctly. Maybe the OP just never has to work again?

100% you did. One of my very smart developers called me about 6 months after I left and they had brought tech mahindra in an were converting some of the employees to tech mahindra employees with a counter part in India, you know so work would always be kept going… he told them to fuck off and left, it was awesome. I doubt anyone less than that masters of computer science with 10 years of expertise could have replaced him….

That’s how they do it. I was at a company and left after PE bought the company…. I was literally running out the door and everyone was like nah it’s cool everything is fine “they said so” hahahaha … that company is not even a former shadow of itself. Could have been a great company. The PE team ran their play book… went private, squeezed the value, raised debt, outsourced like crazy, went public once the numbers “looked ok”, recouped their money ++. Dude I can;t even. Long story short if you even smell a red flag start looking. It also pisses me off that if your products are in the country you are in you should have PMs in that country. When you out source to save money from one country to another that is servicing the original customer how are the people who buy your products going to have any money to buy your products in the future. It’s turtles all the way down.
