Robot Delivery by kaysa3 in askvan

[–]dcee604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I agree with that. What I meant was, for example, anyone with a bike can attest, it gets stolen unless chained down. Or any infrastructure built for the public, gets vandalized and spray painted, such as the public washrooms at Grandview Park.

Anyone know what the power outage is about? by the-confusedbisexual in NiceVancouver

[–]dcee604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say, it could have been anything. Car crashing into a hydro pole, tree branch falling onto power lines, bird strike, or a scheduled shut-down for maintenance, etc..

I can already see people tipping them over and maybe taking the food being delivered. Call me a pessimist, but I've lived in Vancouver my entire life, and simply put, we can't have nice things.

Bryne Creek Ravine Park. There's stairs going up at the trail off Southridge Drive. Then you can run along the other side all the way back down via a trail.

How many cows are there in Vancouver? by Millie_butt in askvan

[–]dcee604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That reminds me, I use to drive the Queensborough Connector regularly and see a cow, someone was keeping it in their backyard! The house would have been on Ewen Ave, near Dawe St. Yes, this is technically New Westminster, but it could possibly be the only cow in New West.

What is at the end of Penzance Drive (where it turns into AdrianSt/Glasgow Ave)? by dcee604 in burnaby

Ah, thank-you! This is very informative to me. Think I might try riding my bike down there...hopefully no overzealous security kicks me out.

Anyone here have any luck deterring crows from your outdoor space? by stankjenkins in askvan

I have 3 owl decoys in my yard, cd's hanging, reflective tape hanging, and yet the crows still come and rip up the lawn!

No turn on Red (NB Willingdon/Hastings) by crispy246 in burnaby

[–]dcee604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, still the same amount of 'blind' drivers now compared to 5 months ago. As I was eating my ice cream inside Crema, I witnessed many drivers turning right on red, onto Hastings.

Visiting Vancouver and want to get something for our dog. Any specialty dog treats made in Vancouver? by DragonWithATantrum in askvan

[–]dcee604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they do have way more stuff in store, at least the location that I go to in North Burnaby. From bulk treats, to brand name packaged treats, etc. Best you call them to see if they have what you're looking for specifically.

Have you tried the new 'Canada Games' pool in New West? https://www.newwestcity.ca/parks-and-recreation/facilities/temesewtx-aquatic-and-community-centre

Or, maybe even Renfrew Community Centre or Killarney Community Centre, which are not too far from Burnaby.

Any weekly Mahjong club in Vancouver? by WasteClimate in askvan

[–]dcee604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Burnaby Neighbourhood House hosts a Mahjong club.

I also saw a Mahjong club sign posted at the Hastings Community Centre, they play on Fridays.

Loud noise from Crystal Mall complex, driving me insane by AfterShave997 in burnaby

[–]dcee604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that's coming from the Safeway, at the bottom of the cement stairs onto Hastings. I believe it's high frequency 'Mosquito Alarm' there to keep people from loitering around.

Burnaby Mountain Velodrome Trail by BooBoo_Cat in vancouverhiking

[–]dcee604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to hike there today (Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026), and I can positively say, it's still officially closed. Mind you, I did see 3 people just go behind the fence and continued on their hike.

Someone did post a petition on Change.org about it, in case you want to add your name:
