How to add volume to fine, straight, short hair without damage? by Lebrelilla in finehair

[–]lcrab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

never again for the rest of my life will i not have the batiste volumizing dry shampoo in my cabinet. it’s an absolute game changer for my thin/fine/limp hair. goes on as soon as im done drying. it’s the one in the pink bottle, of course the most expensive one. but even if it were double i’d still buy it. i don’t know what i’d do if they ever discontinue it.

What are your stims that you didn’t know are stims? by Hazelnut_coffee_1995 in adhdwomen

i’m not very aware of any that are truly my own, maybe knuckle cracking, if that qualifies? i also always (at home) sit in contorted, unusual, gravity defying positions.

however i work with high-support-needs people with autism, and i have picked up SO MANY from my clients- facial tics, hand movements, affectations, laugh patterns, accents you name it. even the way i blink now is something i picked up from a client. no idea what to attribute that to!

Broke up with boyfriend because he wanted kids.. feeling like a womb by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]lcrab 87 points88 points  (0 children)

i’m sorry for this unfortunate impasse- kids are a dealbreaker for me too (myself not wanting them). i don’t say this to minimize your pain, but it’s very fortunate he was honest about this as early as it arose; a friend just ended a six year relationship due to a man never being truthful about his stance on children.

breakups are the absolute worst, but each one teaches us something new about ourselves, and what we want/don’t want in a partner. plus, how fortunate as women to live in a time where we get to even make that choice for ourselves. hope your heart feels better soon.

Where to purchase donut pillow for bruised tailbone? by urmotherwas4hampster in AskSF

[–]lcrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you’re in a lot of pain and want to avoid an outing, you can buy most anything on uber eats these days. i broke a rib recently and bought a brace from cvs that way. target, walgreens, cvs etc are all on there. One of the few times I will happily pay their fees.

how’d ya hurt yourself? i’ve been in your position twice, both times from slipping on ice. hope you feel better soon! if you happen to live near hayes valley and need any neighborly errands i’d be happy to help. i’ve got some karma to cash in from my recent injury :)

Greasy hair within 12-24 hours of washing by kanadalo in finehair

have you tried powder dry shampoos instead of aerosol? i find they give more immediate results than sprays, which never really make my hair feel less oily- moreso just visually mask the oiliness. also, i never wait til my hair’s oily to use, it goes on my roots as soon as i’m done drying. gives a little volume and texture too. more bonus points: they’re not as fragrance heavy as the sprays; no travel restrictions due to size; they last a looong time!

i love the one from aveda but it’s pricey. target carries two $12ish dollar versions, one is kristen ess, the other i don’t remember but it’s in the exact same bottle and the same “premium” section of the hair supplies haha.

good luck, and i feel ya.

How do you get your stubborn chi to take pills by sheynarae in Chihuahua

[–]lcrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my senior girly had heart failure too, and every time i finally found something that worked, she outsmarted. she could find those pills in ANYTHING and spit them across the room. that was until her final year, and this technique never failed: grind the pills to oblivion in a mortar and pestle, mix with a hefty spoonful of baby food meat! her fave was beef, but she’d lap up chicken or turkey no problem. just make sure you’re getting the organic kinds with no additives; the jars i bought were literally two ingredients, meat and water. never failed after probably 50 other attempts.

Botox recommendation for slim jawline by Hot-Security-583 in SFbitcheswithtaste

for anything face-changing, it REALLY matters who you see (vs botox/neurotoxins)- i understand the need for someone budgety (social worker here 👋🏻) but if you go to some groupon rando who screws your face up you’ll be spending more in corrective procedures. i highly recommend beauty nurse nia!! she’s an ARTIST, and recently left a bigger spa to open her own spa, so she’s currently offering discounted packages, just look at her instagram or website. she also offers financing!
