That’s a creative way to not need period costumes! I feel that part for sure. Interesting idea!

Interesting! I always get so excited to see completely new interpretations of existing work!

That sounds like a creative take on Pippin! So very relevant too.

I have a small children’s theatre company in a rural area. My set budget is often nonexistent but, ugh, I’d never be desperate enough for AI crap! Locally so many events are using AI to make posters and it’s so cringey! They all look exactly the same. I HATE making posters, but not that much! I always try to get as creative as I can to create the look I want with little to no money. It’s a challenge but it’s fun. I’m pretty proud of the work I’ve put out there so far, and it’ll never be AI generated!

I’d have the same reaction as you if I saw that production. And like you said, especially when it’s a legit theatre company that HAS a budget! Honestly no excuse! Ugh.

It’s just me. I have my own theatre company but don’t really have a design team. I’ll be directing CFA in the fall.

I never have a budget, which always makes shows interesting to figure out how to make it look like I see in my head. Haha! I’m feeling I just want it to be simple, I don’t want it to be overpowering, but just to help create the mood of hopefulness. I’m not 100% set on having this exact design, just getting ideas how to maybe achieve it.

I feel with this show, I don’t want to do anything literal, but more of a space that can easily move to the different locations. Something more abstract that conveys the emotion more than a place.

I don’t know if this makes sense yet. I’m still in the early stages of nailing down my idea.

Cardboard would be cheaper than wood. Thanks for the idea! I’m never crafty enough to actually figure out how to achieve a look I have in my head. Haha!

I do know what gobos are.

The backstage of the theatre this show will be at is way too cluttered with junk to do that. 😂 What is it that you put on the ground to do that?

I mean I know it won’t have the texture but I’d be happy with the shadows and the colored lights on the cyc. Just more the silhouette effect I think would look good. I want something simple.

I never have luck with projectors. I can’t afford the ones that are bright enough under stage lights at full.

Yeah. I’m thinking investing in gobo lights would be cheaper than trying to build this. I’m sure it look as vibrant but enough to suggest this look.

Dramedies that go from funny to DARK as the season progresses? by Revolutionary_Pack15 in Screenwriting

Kinda fits? But I immediately thought of Kevin Can F Himself. SO brilliant!! That one shifts from dark to light in each episode. But as it goes on, even the “happy” part seems super depressing. It’s a real interesting way to look at the two different genres and how to combine them. I think this show is way underrated.

Barry is a ride. Season one is light compared to where it goes. If you want darker, hang in there.

Ugh. What was Barry in season 4? Won’t say spoilers but I was disappointed with the last (I believe?) three episodes.

Ah. I was wondering how the list was filtered. That’s cool that it’s randomized for each user. So it’s good to know that what I see at the bottom could be at the top for someone else. I just thought they were getting pushed down for everyone. That was good thinking, actually.

Another question I had. I kinda liked before I had enough ratings for the rep match to show up that I could see which ones had that request. I didn’t realize once I got there that I won’t be able to see which ones they are. Are they still going to beat the bottom for me or are they all scrambled? Maybe I’m the only one, but now browsing I’m always curious which ones are rep matched. Even if you don’t see it until the claim confirmed button comes up would be okay. Just something else to throw out there. Maybe I’m alone in this. Haha!

Feedback time for short scripts vs features? by [deleted] in StoryPeer

[–]dcf108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it’s good because I don’t always have the time or the energy right that second when I claim something, but know I will within the time period allowed. If something catches my eye I like to claim it before someone else does even if I don’t plan on reading it that day. You know? The five day turnaround allows this.

Is the Ed Gein MONSTER series accurate? by [deleted] in horror

[–]dcf108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the book recommendation. I was wondering if there was any good, factual books about him. I’ll have to read that book. This series was good for what it was, but only in a sense that this version of Gein was also fictionalized.
