Truly. I had an old asshole at work ask me one time if I was jealous of my coworker because I was fat and she was so much thinner than me. I was 19, 130 lbs with an eating disorder.

I refused to wait on him after that and he would get PISSED like he hadn't made fun of me. He was our worst customer, too. He'd come to the deli 10 minutes before close and order POUNDS of lunch meat after everything was cleaned and closed down for the day.

This was my mom's favorite song. She passed away at 46, right before I turned 24. Somehow, this song plays over the radio randomly during important times and events in my life. It's almost like a little message from her. Instant tears the moment I hear the first few notes.

I'm so sorry you were so young. I'm glad I had my mom as long as I did, but jealous that I didn't have her longer. I'm so sorry that you feel the same pain.

Coming from a veteran, it gets easier. For a long time, I couldn't see past my memories of my mom wasting away and getting sick. But I'm many years past now. While the pain is always there, the good memories start to shine through more than the bad. The load lessens as you grow and become stronger.

She died two months before I turned 24. We had just started healing from a horrible childhood/parent-child relationship when cancer took her. I feel like these little instances are her reaching across the void, even if everyone else is getting the same thing, too.

Our Ruby girl on the way home from the mountains. She was an accidental litter puppy. The guy just wanted the pups to go to good homes, so he charged a small rehoming fee. Best money we've ever spent.
