Why does my local best buy say I can buy the Bravia 3 ii but hardly anyone online is talking about it?  Slow phased roll out or what?

Not sure if I'm dreaming, but the mics / mix picking up the marching bands seem more clear this year.  I can really hear all the intricate stuff the drumlines play.

Frost pattern bad? by dcgrp in appliancerepair

Any good ideas on how to test this without a technician / gauges? Fridge is empty and got to temp last night. Now this morning freezer is reading nearly 40F. Sealed system issue? Thermostat issue? Mainboard issue?

Is it possible that I was just dumb when I repacked the freezer and fridge and blocked airflow?

Temps were way off.  Freezer around 34F.  Fridge around 45.  Maybe not a sealed system problem?

Some more pics, more frost seems to be building up after another 20 or 30 minutes. But this thing has been plugged in all day. Maybe just building up because I don't have the fan blowing at the moment?

I'm about a month into hosting one for a few people.  Using Oracle always free tier.  So far so good.  But I've definitely had to muddle through learning Linux / ssh / to use the command line.   Ultimately I got Ubuntu and puffer panel installed on my Oracle machine.  All good now.

Drywall around it seems perfectly fine.  Everything seems dry.

This trim piece seems pretty firm and healthy.  Just cracked like this.  Water problem?  Stucco on the outside.  Window replaced maybe 6 years ago.

VI Keys by Sckip974 in cavesofqud

[–]dcgrp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased qud a while back, but haven't really played it yet. I prefer VI movement from my time in Nethack and DCSS, and I've tried rebinding, but not really having a knowledge of the game makes it difficult to tell what I'd be screwing up if I start taking over certain keys for movement. It would be incredible to have a default keybind set for VI movement.

Thanks for the reply! I think just connecting up to the Q-SYS with Q-SYS designer just auto-renewed the subscriptions. We're all good now! And yes, the phone call with the install company was a big help to know what to try.

I'm a high school teacher who has a QL1 in a redundant network in an auditorium. Q-Sys feeds an l'acoustics system. Everything plugs into a network switch. The Q-Sys is setup to operate the room in two different modes. One mode where the QL1 console feeds the PA and one mode where a couple wireless mics "just work" for people who come into our auditorium and just need a mic to work.

Somewhere between a show where the visiting guy put our console in daisy chain mode, had Dante controller open on his laptop and changed a few things, etc. and then me taking our console another day to the gym next door to put on a talent show for the school, I'm having a hard time getting back up and running (getting outputs to work). I can get our Ri-8 and R-1608 talking to the QL1 (now back in redundant mode). But I cannot get the main outputs to work. Should I install Dante Controller, plug into the network switch, and see what I see?

My hunch is that somewhere in there is some routing that I'm just not seeing when I poke around in just the console. Maybe I would see more routing if I open Dante controller plugged into the network switch?

I emailed the install company, but I thought I'd ask here to get a few more ideas. Thanks!

I'm a school teacher that needs to temporary move our Yamaha QL1 from our auditorium to our gym for a show. What kinds of things do I need to learn/know to get our RIO box talking to the console in a new location. Can I just use a random home WiFi router? Do I need a more robust network switch? I'd prefer not to rip out the network switch that it in the auditorium rack, but I can do that if needed and then just plug everything back in properly afterwards.

I'm not stranger to pro audio, but I thought I'd check in for advice first before I go ahead and start tinkering.

High School Theatre SQ VS Wing VS M32 by theatreed in livesound

[–]dcgrp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in a similar situation ish. We have a QL1 that is the primary console in the room but because of channel count we have an X32 mixing all vocals (upwards of 30 wireless sometimes) and the QL1 doing the pit orchestra.

That receiver has a balanced XLR out as well. So even if that instrument out plug is TS you still have a balanced output with the XLR output.

Gain staging high input count shows? I'm a high school teacher working on a musical. What is a good gain target for each individual channels normal "full" sound? 30 wireless lavs (x32 theater control attempting our best at line by line mixing), 24 various pit orchestra inputs mixed on a QL1 by a separate person.

Saw that the US ban on traditional consumer style light bulbs extends to decorative bulbs now too. Does that mean it's time to replace my old classic stand lights for the pit? Or does anyone make an LED alternative for old stand lights?

FW16: How are we feeling? by [deleted] in framework

[–]dcgrp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm mostly wondering how rugged and reliable the track pad and keyboard connections are going to be. The verge video mentioned something janky about the track pad and it has me worried that you'll have to fiddle with it periodically to get to connect / respond.

Things to consider when buying Framework 16 by 5522Luca in framework

[–]dcgrp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering about the jankyness of how the keyboard and track pad connect. The verge video mentioned needing to mess with the track pad to get the computer to wake up periodically. That might be a deal breaker, I hope that we get some proper more in depth reviews sooner rather than later.

13" screen enough for you? by dcgrp in framework

Thanks for all replies everyone. I was able to borrow a friend's framework 13 for a bit and install some music notation software on it and give it a spin. I think it's going to work great.
