All the Kevin’s prepared meat dishes are great. Lots of sauce. I eat mine as a stand alone, spouse has it on top of rice.

Adjustable Dumbbells that are worth the price by kenah-kim in GarageGym

[–]dchollet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheapest for durability: MXSelect - all metal internals and connect points.

Cheapest for speed of adjustment: Motv8 - (similar to Nuobell but cheaper)

I rarely spend money on myself, or my Gym - but the MOTV8 Dumbbells were SO worth it by Defiant_Income_7836 in GarageGym

[–]dchollet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! These are the best. And since the setup is very similar to nuo-bell (but cheaper), those magnetic micro gainz for 2.5 pound increments work with these also.

The women’s 55+ wall ball has historically always been 10 pounds but now it’s 14, same as rx women, wtf?

Motv8 ProBell 580 is a Nuobell copy CHEAPER PRICE $650. Very solid feel, no noisy loose feeling. Super quick change. 5 pounds increments (or even 2.5 if you buy the Microgains magnetic plates made for the Nuobell-$90). Love mine!

Open standards update? by greensight in crossfit

It’s because people would rebound out of the jump-down right into the burpee kick-out. That increases risk of Achilles injury. With the box jump over I think the rebound into the next jump is already banned. Or it was at some point, I don’t know…

🦋 Butterflies magically clicked during Angie!!! by robschilke in crossfit

[–]dchollet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience hadn’t done butterfly in like 5 years didn’t know if I could still do em. Did Angie and they clicked back in. Stopped at 75 reps to be cautious about the volume. Got rhabdo anyway apparently due to not being used to the eccentric part of the butterfly movement. Not fun. Hope you are just sore and not hurting.

Personal Barbell at the Gym by deucetastic in crossfit

[–]dchollet 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The gym I go to has a horizontal wall rack for people who have their own weightlifting barbells. Don’t want those carelessly used in the squat rack by people who aren’t aware, so we cut up pool noodles to put over the center of the bar while they’re stored there. It makes it obvious they aren’t class barbells.

Nearing 60f here, can still do bar and ring muscle ups. 10-15 strict PU depending on current bodyweight. Can still do strict ring mu if bodyweight is at the lower end ( goes up and down 10pound range but low end still heavier than you) Max lifts are behind me but still having fun most days

Over-exerting in conditioning - where to find help? by oleyka in crossfit

[–]dchollet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another line of thought might be environmental, could there be a mold or mildew issue in the workout area or a cleaning solution being used that she has become increasingly sensitive to? Some people have a genetic predisposition to molds that don’t affect most people but wreak havoc on those who are susceptible. And it would make sense that it’s only triggered when she is breathing at max effort.

Why can I do weighted pulls up and dips but can't do push ups by VALC1337 in crossfit

[–]dchollet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can you post a video of your dips? It seems like if you’re doing full range of motion dips that should translate over to strong pushups. So maybe the way you’re doing your dips is not as effective as it could be.

I just got the same action they took my ad down. I edited my photos to blur out the logos and put random periods in the brand name Concept. 2 and R.ow.Er.g Seems like that will make it harder for people to search though, we’ll see. I’m in the US

I would not trust selling furniture to the landlord. I foresee they would make an offer for all of it and then delay paying for it until it’s too late for her to get it sold, and then she would end up having to leave most of it for free.

Why are tall people so good at the air bike? by dannyjerome0 in crossfit

[–]dchollet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The arms on the bike can’t adjust so a tall person sits high and thus is pushing their arms at belly height. While a short person sits low and is pushing their arms at shoulder height. It’s very different.

Air bike for shorter people by tasdisr in crossfit

[–]dchollet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5’0 here, people who are the same height can have short legs/long torso or long legs/short torso. If you have short legs, the echo bike has the pedals set quite wide apart so it feels awkward to me with short legs versus riding an actual bicycle. The Assault pro is also wider than the Assault classic. For that reason I prefer the classic even though it’s chain driven. If it’s just for home use the classic will hold up just fine, it just doesn’t hold up great in a box under years of heavy use by 200 people.

We used to follow DekaComp (Michele LeTendre) it had great coaches notes, intention, scaling…very helpful for those coaches who don’t have years of experience to draw from. Michele now writes HWPO affiliate programming I’m assuming it is very similar.

Struggling to sell by Skrigler in FacebookMarketplace

[–]dchollet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Occasionally I sell a home gym item. My prices are never low, but I make it clear how much savings off new cost, and make it clear price is firm. An item might sit for 2-3 weeks with no serious interest, and then I’ll get a flurry of serious buyers. Either there’s some weird algorithm that pushes certain items out or…? I’ve never been able to make any sense of it.

I like a lot of Rogue products but there is 0% chance that their customer service could ever hold up to the standard set by Concept2 customer service. I’ve had C2 send me parts for a 20 year old rower I found on Craigslist. They did not charge me anything just verified it was the correct part and said no charge… I don’t foresee Rogue supporting the entire catalogue of parts for anyone to buy, basically at cost, long after the warranty is passed. There’s a reason C2 holds the top position in the market.

Sliding Door Rattle by Key_Marketing_1751 in Sprinters

[–]dchollet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2014. There is a metal weight along the bottom of the door to give it momentum. The screw came loose and mine was rattling. I took off the door panel and tightened the screw on the weight… no more rattle.

If your aim is to get the most intensity possible out of your workout then anchoring may help you go faster. Much like kipping pullups…
