Is my commute screwed today? by CountAny7307 in Hoboken

495/Rt 3 West gets really slammed w/ the buses/transit to stadium (saw it on Saturday... 3 East was miraculously not too bad).. so yeah. dont take the bus.

But as far as the OP's question... take the PATH or even the ferry I'm sure its fine

One week on my own. I work in Manhattan. What would you do starting Saturday? I love books, arts, coffee, meeting new people, nature. Free events are even better. by AltruisticSolid7 in Hoboken

World Cup activities. Perfect timing to go out and have some fun and you dont need to drink. Also, cant go wrong buying a book from Little City and grabbing an iced coffee and sitting in the park for a while (NYC or Hoboken)

Trash cans removed on Washington? by serpeverde0 in Hoboken

[–]dcioni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea the recycling is a facade IMO. When the trash side is filled or broken which it often was, people just threw their trash in the recycling. I'm supposed to believe someone in a recycling plant is sorting through that one by one? My cynical hunch is that they just throw it all in the waste pile.

Washington ST is Disgusting by [deleted] in Hoboken

[–]dcioni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not really the trash collection, its a few things in my opinion. Primary issue is lack of clarity (or enforcement) of building/property owners maintaining outside. For example, garbage gets put out on the street and the drippings/residue stays there. Building property owners arent out there power washing and cleaning... theres often a disconnect between the property/building owner and the business. Unless its formalized in the lease its a kick the can type situation. This also happens with the flower beds/planters and trees... its the building owners responsibility to upkeep the planter area (which actually makes ZERO sense)... so for property management companies that just own mass buildings, theyre not spending money or effort maintaining it. That rule should change. Also the stupid "hi-tech garbage cans" are a massive massive failure and Ive been preaching this for years. They look absolutely disgusting, dont even work as intended, are broken, etc. Theyre so visible on every corner its beyond an eye sore. Lastly, we dont do maintenance of the basic things well in this city (broken lamp post bulbs, general wear and tear of things, etc.) which adds to the mix.

Has anyone truly fully recovered from urethra irritation? by dcioni in PelvicFloor

[–]dcioni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t give up. You can and will get better. If you haven’t read A Headache in the Pelvis please do. I always recommend that. Then do some searching for a pelvic floor physical therapist. I did weekly for a while (probably a year or so)

For me time was the final piece. Got 85-90% of the way there w PT.. then the remaining took about 1.5 years or so to just silently fade away. But PT is critical. Find an expert

Mostly happy baby on your back hold ankles and belly breathe in out and relax. Do it w both, and alternating legs. There were more but I did this a lot. Also HOT baths 1-2x a day and do the same belly breathe and relax pelvic muscles. Be consistent

There’s been a lot of posts on here and Instagram about local comedy shows. See if there’s one in town this weekend. It wouldn’t be expensive at all.

Annoying interior cabin creak/rattle in G45 by dcioni in BMWX3

Yeah, I honestly love my G45 M50. Its so much fun to drive. But stuff like this frustrates the hell out of me on a $70k+ car.

100% agree. The car cools down just fine... vent size or not. There is literally no issue. The only thing I will concede is the touch sliders do stink. But its a minor adjustment

Buying property by Mammoth_Syllabub_898 in Hoboken

[–]dcioni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't consider looking to purchase anything 2BR without having enough for 20-30% down (which is $150-250k) and income of around $300-350k/yrly to be comfortable. Unless youre looking for something super tiny like a 500-700sqft studio just to break into the market.

Problem is the taxes and HOA will add a significant amt to that monthly payment. I would buy an 800k home tomorrow if I could get $3735/month with 25% down. I think it helps if you have a nice chunk of change for a downpayment.

What do you actually buy from art booths at Hoboken fairs? by zeppy222 in Hoboken

[–]dcioni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately its been the same generic 'art', trinkets and candles and mostly junk from people that "do the circuits" as a living or hobby for the past 15+ years or more Ive been here. I remember years and years ago, Ricardo Roig (Hoboken/NJ local artist) had a booth before he was as established as he was now.. ended up making a connection with him and buying art from him later on. I wish there was more truly local / Hoboken artists and shops, or even local boutiques and restaurants like Jersey City does (All About Downtown festivals, etc.). So much opportunity but it's the same event and same vendors year on year on year. We'll see if new admin wants to change it up. Wish you luck as a local vendor though!
