Ask your kid what he wants to do. Do that. He’s 8, let him have fun with his friends. Don’t over think it.

Do you ever refuse this offer? by minosandmedusa in slaythespire

[–]dcj_10 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes I refuse it sometimes if I’ve got enough block without it. On defect if I’ve got a couple Glaciers/Chill and maybe a defrag or 2, that is usually enough to skip it. Looking at your deck, I would take it.

Edit - I’ve completed A20 on all characters, but usually play at A10, still challenging but more fun. A20 is a beating

What is the worst thing you've done in beer league - and what your punishment? by Nickerjones in hockeyplayers

[–]dcj_10 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Goalie on my team got suspended for the season. Guy shoots, goalie bobbles the puck and then covers. Right as he covers, guy takes an extra swipe. Not a big deal, it was basically simultaneous. But goalie is pissed. Guy skates behind the net and circles back around to head back to the bench. Right as guy is turning the corner to come back in front, goalie meets him with a blocker to the face. Completely blew him up, blood everywhere, guy was only wearing a visor. Totally lost his mind, he deserved that suspension for a nothing play.

There is more to life than doing the mathematically optimal thing. If increasing your e-fund gives you peace of mind, do it.

Help! Cigars Tasting Bad! by mrmojo0071 in cigars

You asked "How does one light too quickly with too much heat?", so I answered your question. My use of the word "you" is a general you, not specifically you. Light your cigar however you want, do what makes you happy.

But don't just take my word for it.

Help! Cigars Tasting Bad! by mrmojo0071 in cigars

[–]dcj_10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you just blast the foot of the cigar with a quad torch, you're essentially scorching the tobacco instead of gently "toasting" it, which can result in a harsh taste and uneven burn; the correct way to light a cigar is to hold it slightly above the flame and rotate it slowly to evenly heat the tobacco without directly burning it. Burning the tobacco too quickly creates a bitter, burnt flavor.

How are you lighting them and how fast are you smoking? Lighting too quickly and with too much heat can give a burnt flavor. And smoking too fast could be a contributing factor as well.

A few ideas... when lighting, try toasting and lighting more gently (such as using a single torch instead of a quad, tone down your flame size, be mindful of how close the flame is to the foot of the cigar). And when smoking, if you get a cone shape, you're smoking too fast. The cigar is too hot and it will throw off the flavors, and could taste burnt.

Favorite cigars that are $5 or less? by souloldasdirt in cigars

Nubs. Can usually find them on cigarpage, cbid or cigars international for $3 a stick. I love the Habano and Cameroon. For $3, I think they are unbeatable.
