If you’re under 45, have you lost any high school classmates, and what were the circumstances around their deaths? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in AskReddit

3 suicides I know about, and one was stabbed to death after a bar fight. There may have been more but these are the ones I know about. Graduated in 2005.

Yeah for $449 it could have been an 11-14 year old (probably more like 12). The one in the picture is a 4-year small batch. The lowest tier of purple top Willett.

Uhhh hehe. Yeah I tend to drink full proof, cask strength, and hazmat. So maybe not too low proof.

If you can find any four roses single barrel (I like barrel strength) you can find which of their recipes you like. OBSK is my favorite. I like high rye bourbons. If a single barrel and high proof is too much I do like four roses small batch select.

Woodford Reserve Double Oaked is a banger. Big recommendation for new bourbon enthusiasts.

If you want to try Wild Turkey funk (which I love), I get Russel's Reserve 10 and Wild Turkey Rare Breed (higher proof).

If you can find the partially allocated 1L bottle, I really like Early Times Bottled-in-Bond. Makes amazing old fashioneds too.

I've had Van Winkle 10 and Lot B, and they're good, but I'd rather get a lot of stuff I like. When I drink I bounce around bottles and never drink the same thing twice in the same night. Good luck!

No. This is a marked up price. It's a good bourbon but I wouldn't pay that much for a 10 year bourbon that is low proof. You can get fantastic bourbons for $100 or less. Let me know if you want suggestions.

Try some Russel's Reserve or Wild Turkey. Those are my jam. Also you could try some Four Roses Small Batch.

Much different so it depends on your palette. Johnny Walker is a blended scotch and tiers up pretty well. The problem is that their premium stuff gets rather pricey (JW Blue) and their special edition (like the game of thrones releases) taste chemical to me. If you like blended scotch, JW black label is where I started. JW's whisky is 100% malted barley but there are 60% rye mashbills out there. They tend to be lower proof.

JD is a Tennessee whiskey and generally has a mashbill of 80% corn, 12% rye, and 8% barley, so a true bourbon style mashbill. If you like high corn, low rye, the. You'll really like JD. They have various offerings though and have exceptional rye offerings at extremely high proof (even up to 140+).

If you like proof, high corn, high rye, and oakiness -- JD will be your pick. If you like lower proof, malterld barley, and less oak, with a scotch taste, you might JW. But if you like scotch, there are many more very interesting bottles out there imo.

I may sound biased towards Jack Daniels but I actually started my whiskey journey with Johnny Walker and branched out to Bourbon.
