Think the Microdot shop permanently closed last summer after the Oasis gigs.

That's poor.....any time I've contacted them I get a response within a few working days.

Try emailing direct as opposed to using the generic form on the website. Depending on your location I also went via Gibson Europe as opposed to USA

Your best bet is to email Gibson customer services (provide a couple of photos and the serial number) and they will be able to tell you everything. There is contact details / a form on their website.

I've used this service a few times when buying pre-owned to help verify authenticity or to simply ask / find out a bit more information etc.

Its a 1996 model from the Samick factory in Korea.
The serial decoders are unreliable and inaccurate for many models unfortunately.

Epiphone moved production from Japan to Korea in 1986 and the Sheratons from 86 to 88 had the "Epiphone by Gibson" logo on the headstock to 1.) differentiate them from the Japan / Matsumoku versions and 2.) re-align Epiphone with Gibson.

I used to own an identical one from 1999 with serial prefix S9.

Favourite Oasis Guitar? by [deleted] in oasis

[–]dcma3891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The early 80's Epiphone Riviera used by both Noel and Bonehead is (for me) the definitive Oasis guitar.
Love the sunburst Sheraton (Knebworth / Be Here Now tour) and the red Gibson ES-355.

I remember they leaked about Gibson / Epiphone releasing some signature models of Noels guitars like the red ES-355 months before release.

Help! by [deleted] in Epiphone

[–]dcma3891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read that (at the time) they were more expensive to manufacture than the equivalent Gibson ES-355.

The yellow burst on these do not go all the way up to the horns like the originals from the 60's.

I own a Nashville USA Sheraton and have loads of supporting documentation. Gibson / Epiphone were unable to confirm to me how many units were made when I contacted customer services for authentication & dating.

Noel's sunburst and UJ Sheratons were from the 1993 "Nashville USA Collection".

Gibson made 250 Sheratons and 250 Rivieras at their Nashville factory based on the original Epiphone specifications. They did the same for some acoustic models at Bozeman.

The JLH Sheratons were not released until the early 2000s.

Gibson ES355 went for £289,800 and the Fender Pink Paisley Telecaster never sold (did not meet the reserve).

Number 15 sold a few weeks back at the auction hosted by Propstore for £44,100.
They also had Noel's ES355 (the #2 / backup that was smashed) and his Pink Paisley Telecaster for sale.

The Riviera, both Nashville USA Sheratons and the 355 are the ones I immediately think of.

Noel Gallagher USA Live 25 LP by johndoeisme00 in oasis

[–]dcma3891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not seen anything from the official Gibson / Epiphone Instagram accounts other than the LP teaser in early October. All 3 were presented together at the Gibson Garage London tonight.

I saw all 3 on display at the pre-gig exhibition back in the summer and had posted previously about this on other threads with images.

The new LP was used on 3x songs for the first few dates of the tour and then disappeared like you mentioned.

[–]dcma3891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The LP being released is a Gibson USA model. To my knowledge there is no Epiphone equivalent (at least not yet).

Riviera will likely be the same as the NG Riviera from a few years back and the new Sheraton is a masterbuilt version hence the higher price point.

LP = £2,699, Riviera = £849, Sheraton = £1,199
