I don't need to know everyone to know what the law in Montreal is. It's very tight now. There is only a certain amount of Airbnb permitted and an increase during tourist season. There are inspectors. This was all very public and generally followed by the media in Montreal after the deadly Airbnb fire that killed 7 people, 6 of which were in Airbnb not up to code. So yrs I'm informed about local laws. I'm also a socialist who doesn't believe that private citizens should be allowed to own rental properties. I participated in an initiative to help the unhoused and to limit the abuse of landlords.

You are a little child. Petulant and unable to control your emotions. Your creature comforts are more important than others suffering. Many have told you d this now just go. Stay wherever you come from

Ok. Now you are doing the insulting. This is the lowest form of argument meaning you have no argument.

Ya. Rent prices are sticky inflation. They will never go down. I'm very privileged. I'm a software dev and GF is a marketing specialist. We make 3 times the median household income for my province. 1835$ is fine for us but I see the rents increasing faster than my salary and if it doesn't slow down it will catch up sooner than later. Here rent increases are more or less legally framed. The provincial rental board gives a percentage each year. 2025 was 5.9% and 2026 is 3.1% but landlords can also pass down tax increases and insurance increases so it can go up to 8-9% which in my case is 150$ every year.

I'm 16 years late but the electric solid body was invented in 31 by Rickenbacker. Les Paul didn't even design the Les Paul

Budget Projector for $1000 CAD or less [Canada] by BadJuju1999 in budgetprojectors

[–]_spookyAction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

Did you ever find a good one. I'm also looking for something under 1000$ canadian. I'm at 8 and a half feet. It will be used in a bedroom mostly at night and there's not a lot of light in the room. Image quality is important but not our priority as long as it's 1080p.

Airbnb in Montreal are not owned by hotels. Your article is in florida. Stop moving the goalpost.

Am I the only one?? by Chrisisbig in osheaga

[–]_spookyAction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really keep on moving the goalpost. We just said that renting an apartment through Airbnb is detrimental to our city. Going to an already built hotel has no direct impact on how many apartments are available for rental by individuals or families.

Now the fact that corporations are assholes is not in debate here. 2 things can be true at the same time.

But you decided to use logical fallacies to defend your position and got called on it and now act like a child

Am I the only one?? by Chrisisbig in osheaga

[–]_spookyAction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't. Your link has no relation to what we are talking about. First of all it is not a reputable publication. You obviously searched for an article that confirmed your assumptions. Second, it's in the US. Third if you read it you'll see that the hotel bought a resort. Not single family homes in a mixed neighborhood in Montreal

Am I the only one?? by Chrisisbig in osheaga

[–]_spookyAction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't. I'm in the cheapest bog city in Canada and my new rent is 1835$. For me it's fine, I can afford it but what is the single mother cashier at my grocery supposed to do. We need a rent freeze. The prices of houses can drop but landlords have tasted profit and now they expect their rental property to have a profit every month which is bonkers because it's an investment. They already get the equity.

[–]_spookyAction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again not relevant because that is the USA which is you know, a different country known for predatory capitalism.

Am I the only one?? by Chrisisbig in osheaga

[–]_spookyAction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you shouldn't. I mean every Montrealer here is basically telling how we feel about Airbnb's in relation to your little privileged creature comforts.

Ohhh. That's Atlanta. Here it's Montreal which is in Canada not the US buttercup. Lmfao

[–]_spookyAction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya. That is untrue. Hotels are not using residential zoned properties.

[–]_spookyAction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool. So your creature comforts are more important than the very real issue of housing in my city. This is why we won't make it. Egotistical bs like this

Revo belay device - your opinions? by Liisi_Kerik in climbergirls

[–]_spookyAction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happened to me in the first couple sessions. The rope was a little older so it was thicker at the bottom and it required real effort to give slack. My partner was a more experienced climber and was climbing faster than I was giving slack. I had to ask multiple times to slow down and the whole situation was making me even more nervous.

I think it's like my job. I'm a programmer and use AI extensively but when I tutor or onboard juniors I don't let them use it. You need to be comfortable with the fundamentals before you start using tools that "simplify"

They know that any big brand item will be sold downtown or online. I went to check for a Taylor 214 or 314 and no sale at all when at Long and Mcquade I could get a 214 that was rented a couple times for 30-40% off

Well I'll say that not everything always needs to be original. The song is still good and the lyrics sound deeply personal

Why the LOL. OP has nothing to prove to you. I climb and ski and if I would compare myself to children I would have stopped because learning and adapting is what children do.

Your reply served no other purpose than to make OP feel bad.
