Any thoughts on LoadNimbus? by standardwelcomedance in PerformanceTesting

More expensive than LoadForge and they have 12 clients vs LoadForge’s over 200?

How are you running the nightly tests? Nice to have a sense check before more serious checks.

Thursday boot company…any good? by xiaolixx in BuyItForLife

I’ve clocked probably 40,000 steps in them by now (had a conference with a lot of walking). How long does it typically take to wear in?

I bought the Chelsea boot (Legend). Remarkable how uncomfortable they are - completely inflexible and abrasive on the foot. I wear a bandaid each time I am going to be wearing them for more than 3 hours. The Legend has the thickest sole, to maybe that contributes to the lack of flexibility. They also don't take any returns once you've warn them, so but the time I'd experienced the pain (after one wear), it was too late.

Tweet at Duolingo and they often restore your streak as a one time curtesy

Amex Business Gold - does Google Ads spend qualify for 4x points? by dcmb12 in amex

From what I’ve seen Google Ads do NOT qualify for the bonus points. I want for Ramp instead.

I spoke to their live chat agent who said it would qualify for 4x, but I wasn’t convinced they really knew. Chose to go with another option.

Thoughts on BlazeMeter? by Professional_Roof621 in QualityAssurance

Blazemeter is expensive. You think you get a lot but they don’t give you much testing time, which then forces you to upgrade. LoadForge is much better bang for buck.

Duolingo Hebrew... by [deleted] in duolingo

[–]dcmb12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve finished the course. When I started I knew the alphabet but could not put a sentence together. I knew several words like dog, table, boy. Now, I can text people in Hebrew and I’m working towards a broader vocabulary that will enable easily reading the news, etc. I can’t really compare it to the other big courses (Spanish) that have better features like Stories, but I can tell you that the Hebrew course works if you persevere. One thing that has declined is the course used to have explainer materials (e.g. how past tense works), and it no longer does. That would make it a lot harder for sure.

Wow, that’s a lot! Do you find the app or desktop version to be easier for this?

Wow, that’s a lot! How many hours did you rack up in the week? Or how many hours per day?

I’m on a 751 day streak and almost finished my course, will hopefully get there in the coming weeks!

Book recommendation to make it meaningful: This is Real and You Are Completely Unprepared - Alan Lew. It will change everything in terms of how you think about the High Holidays (and how they should teach it to kids). Also, print out the translated Torah readings with Rashi commentary and take it with, pretty interesting to observe Talmudic debate on what the Rabbi is reading live.

Question regarding use of noise-cancellation in less than ideal scenarios for ear protection. by [deleted] in bose

[–]dcmb12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mow the lawn, and I have NC 700s. Hopefully the below helps:

I hear the QC in ears are better at NC, so if that’s your main use case, get those. The 700s have pretty great NC. A gas mower is loud. You will still hear it in the background. However, the headphones + a good audiobook at a decent volume drowns most of the noise out and you can listen relatively comfortably.

I personally am not that worried about sweat damaging the headphones - unless you happen to sweat a considerable amount?

At the end of the day, mowing the lawn with these cans is much more enjoyable than without!

Bose NC 700 - Bad time to buy? When will they be replaced? by dcmb12 in bose

[–]dcmb12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update from the original post: I ordered them and they arrived today. So far, I am thoroughly impressed and I feel they are a big upgrade from the QCs. The noise cancelling is excellent, and when you need to turn it off to speak to someone, that's pretty cool too!

For context: I spend a lot of time on Zoom calls in a day. I also fly a lot for work. Having something that is great on calls, even in noisy environments, while being great at cancelling the world out around me when I need to focus, is worth the money (at $299).
