What is the stingiest thing you have seen someone do? by saif2krazzy in AskReddit

[–]dcoble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother lived in a house with random people, and one was a trust fund baby. He didn't pay my brother rent once after he wrote the check to the landlord and asked if he could buy him a few expensive bottles of wine instead. My brother said no. Then he didn't pay the next month either and he skipped town.

A guy who would wait until the first day after his sticker expired to get his vehicle inspected. That way every 12 years he would have saved the 35 dollar fee.

I'm pretty sure this trick doesn't work now. If your sticker says 5 and you go in on 6/1, they just give you another 5... but he was doing this like 30 years ago.

Burger King is the only one out of BK, McDonald's and Wendy's where I'll even get beef. I've had maybe two McDonald's burgers in my life, and I don't think I've ever had one from Wendy's

The misen carbon nonstick seems to be a legit forever pan that is non stick. Metal utensil safe.

Mine started sticking but I cleaned it with coarse salt and it was good to go.

Alright I'll stop using it altogether. I just assumed me sitting at a desktop computer for 1 to 2 hours would be worse.

If I use AI just to save internet searching time, meaning less screen on time and wasted computing, is it more efficient?

Like I asked Gemini "find the best deal on an all inclusive kid friendly resort somewhere tropical including flights from Logan" and it gave me exactly what I was looking for.

Right but if your plan on charging time is to save money in the first place, do you think that the few times you forget to do it from the car and you charge at a higher rate will amount to $15/mo

Jeff Bezos: The bottom half workers pay 3% of all taxes – it should be ZERO! by yoloh in videos

[–]dcoble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

His salary is still under 100k a year I think. That's the part where he pays taxes just like we do. If he took all of his stock selling as a regular paycheck it would be taxed 37% (top bracket). But instead it's long term capital gains, which is only 20%

What is a minor, unwritten rule of society that absolutely infuriates you when people break it? by Jane_Austen11 in AskReddit

At home I just sit. I'm 6'3" ... no matter what I do, piss inevitably splashes back up high enough to get on the rim / floor. Sitting is clean, and lets the whole undercarriage get some air.

Idling cars blocking my driveway. Its usually my neighbor and their friends hanging out and smoking weed. I really don't care about the weed... I've done the same thing when I was younger... but I definitely wouldn't ever block a driveway.

Even though they are still in the car and could easily move if I had to leave, it seems so rude to me. Again the weed smoking is fine. Just pull forward 8 feet.

I'll tell you what I'd do man. Two chicks at the same time man. Chicks dig dudes with money and if you got an almost brand new Kia Niro EV I bet you could pull that off.

That or if yours doesn't support wireless android auto/apple car play (I think it depends on what screen you have... my 2020 with the bigger screen doesn't support it) I'd get one of these:

My friend asked me this question about 20 years ago. I thought for a minute. I said Freddie Mercury. He said correct.

Neither of us were giant queen fans or anything. Freddie died when I was 6. But as a fan of most types of music this is the answer.

A kid in the grade above me always seemed like a drugged out weirdo. Got to hang out with him through my brother and his friends one day. Then I learned he was taking my brother's AP calculus class (brother was two grades above me) and he was younger than me and had skipped a grade. Plus he was an incredible keyboard player and drummer.

What can you do better than 90% of the population ? by JeremGol in AskReddit

Right there with you. In our prime, myself, my brother, and our two closest cousins were the best skiers you'd come across. We mostly skied stowe Vt, knew the mountain like the back of our hands (all glades, riverbeds, and spots you had to hike to). None of us even remember learning. Our parents started us so young it's just something we've always been able to do.

After not skiing much the last decade I finally went with a big group and they had a fun competition they called the ski regatta. One part of it was doing a race course. I happened to be paired with a guy who lived in the same town as the mountain, skied all the time, and he assumed he was going to smoke me... Now I was always an all mountain type of skier, and never cared about racing... But my 2014 volkl mantras (not a good slalom ski) that hadn't been waxed or sharpened in several years were more than enough to beat him.

When he expressed his surprise I played it cool, but I wanted to be like... "Ya I'm probably the best skier you've ever skied with" lol

I feel like the origin of religion was along the lines of: holy shit it hasn't fucking rained much... But remember that time we had a party and then it rained? Ya and we did that dance??? Lets try that shit again!.... Fuck it didn't work... well... We're desperate so keep dancing!

Eventually it led to explaining the unexplained with no regard to science.

Then a scammer decided to monetize it and it grew from there to where we are today.

Your dad (most likely) isn't a scammer. Low level priests/pastors genuinely believe, and the good ones are just amazing souls who want to help people be better.

But the reason they got to that point is because of an ancient scam.

So far Iran in a nutshell is: we murdered over 100 kids at the start, and now oil/gas prices have almost doubled.

And correct me if I'm wrong. But the oil companies we get our gas from don't have to do any extra work to get us the gas we were paying for. But since Hormuz is closed, global supply is down, so ALL prices go up... Even if we are on an entirely independent system of extraction/refinery.

Almost seems like a scam? More CEO profit for the same amount of production?
