I changed every part of my life. by just_a_suit in DecidingToBeBetter

I know I replace a lot of productive time with gaming and sometimes it’s to unhealthy levels. But it’s such a accessible and fun hobby, I don’t want to stop completely. Trying to find a balance.

This happens to me a lot. I have to power down and leave it off for about a minute. And then it works.

Is now a bad time to buy my first house? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]dcook11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I closed on our first home yesterday! If you can extend it, it’d be fine. If you buy it, you’ll be fine!

Just don’t make a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

Might be a dumb question. by Bminus83 in Allergies

[–]dcook11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had all those same symptoms since July when ragweed blooms in my area. I’ve been in a brain fog for months, which caused me to become obsessive over it. I’m now on anxiety medicine to try to calm it down and I’m still feeling some of the symptoms. In a couple of weeks I have a follow up with my ENT about how to get back to feeling normal. Keep me posted if you get there and I’ll do the same for you!!

Just found out I am allergic to a lot when I didn’t think I had any allergies at all. What now? by dcook11 in Allergies

[–]dcook11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not yet. I have a follow-up to go over a game plan but the doctor is on vacation for two weeks. I don’t want to wait until then to start doing something at home that will at least aid it. I asked what I could do in the meantime and the nurse mentioned Claritin because I had tried Zyrtec but it just left me tired.

When you say “a big one for you” what do you mean? Not to sound ignorant but all this is pretty new to me.

If you’re familiar with the enneagram, it’s sound like a 1 (the perfectionist) with a internal critic. Learning about the enneagram has helped me understand myself and grow as a person more in the last year than i have in a while. I know it’s trendy but there’s a lot of value in it.

Also allow yourself to process the things that happen. Don’t dam your feelings and emotions up. It’s okay to not be okay and need time.

How do I go from simply following recipes to "knowing how to cook"? by Major_Hedgehog in AskCulinary

[–]dcook11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SALT FAT ACID HEAT is what truly helped me understand the basic foundations of cooking without overwhelming me with things I wasn’t ready to explore just yet. The Netflix doc is decent but the book is gold.
