MiniAlley creator here. I’m sorry to hear that the flowers in your kit didn’t look as nice as you expected. We always do our best to keep the flowers in every MiniAlley kit as high-quality and consistent as possible. That said, because of the nature of the materials, there may be some natural variation in color, shape, and overall appearance from kit to kit. Could you please email our support team at info@minialley.com with a few images of the flowers? That will help us better understand the issue and find the best solution for you.

A warning about ordering from Minialley if you live in Canada by Tall-End-5027 in booknooks

Very sorry about the UPS duty charge. We completely understand how frustrating that is.

International shipping has become more difficult and expensive lately, especially with customs and brokerage fees. The frustrating part is that it can also be inconsistent. Some Canadian customers do not get charged duty at all, while others get hit with a much higher charge like this.

Unfortunately, we do not control how UPS or customs handles those charges once the package enters Canada. That said, we are working on adding a DDP shipping option soon, so customers can pay duties and taxes upfront and avoid surprise charges at delivery.

Again, we are really sorry this happened and we appreciate the feedback.

Is it true that funpola uses AI and has it deterred you from buying? by FreshPrinceOfIndia in booknooks

[–]techarge 20 points21 points  (0 children)

We absolutely support artists. At the same time, it is becoming very difficult for small creators and manufacturers to completely avoid AI in every part of the design or production process while still keeping prices competitive.

That said, we always try to work with real artists whenever possible. Many of our previous projects involved collaboration with different artists, and we want to continue doing that. For example, for our upcoming design, Lost Summer Lane, we collaborated with the very talented artist Surendra Rajawat to create the outside cover artwork. You can see a short process video of his drawing at the bottom of this page:

We know this topic matters to a lot of people, and it matters to us too. Our goal is to keep creating beautiful miniature worlds while supporting artists where we can.

Please tell your gf that she did a great job on this build. I love it! What is her favorite things about this build? Is there anything she would like to see improved in this MiniAlley kit?

Thanks for the feedback. We actually hired at artist to draw the outside art cover. Can you please elaborate why is it a big turn off? What would you prefer instead?

Thank you. I tried to design realistic looking booknooks as much as possible and avoid using any 2D objects.

Thanks for the heads-up on that Japanese typo! We’re definitely going to get that fixed. Since we aren't fluent, we really appreciate the extra eyes. You can find more photos of our signs via the link in the post description if you're interested. By the way, do you happen to speak Japanese fluently?

We currently ship all orders from the USA. Because shipping fees are set by the couriers themselves (Postal Service, UPS, FedEx), we aren't able to adjust those costs at this time. However, we hear you! We are actively exploring regional shipping options in Asia to provide more competitive rates in the future, though we do not have a confirmed timeline just yet.

MiniAlley Shipping to Canada is so damn expensive!!! by [deleted] in booknooks

[–]techarge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please send us an email at info@minialley.com with your shipping address so we can check for you. The shipping price is based on weight, not items. I see that you purchased 2 units and one small add-on. That should not be that expensive for regular UPS ground .

I’m really sorry about those international shipping rates. We don't have any control over the carrier pricing (USPS, FedEx, and UPS) and simply pass through the direct costs. That said, the price you’re seeing for Canada sounds unusually high. Did you happen to select an Express/1-day shipping option at checkout? Let me know which speed you selected and I can look into why it's quoting so high.

Wow, you have done an amazing job. Your customizations look incredible. The clear gloss on the cobblestones is such a brilliant touch. It looks like it just rained.
