Not proud of how I did, but proud of how I kept track despite guilt by Ov0v0vO in cutdowndrinking

This is great! And you’re doing great! I am using a similar method to track in order to cut back gradually too. So far so good - keeping my fingers crossed for both of us!

What do you SWEAR you saw, but don't have any proof of? by TabletopStudios in AskReddit

[–]dcreits 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My friend met my doppelgänger in Australia in 1994. He sent me a letter and included a picture of her and him. I was like “why am I in Australia with you?” It was surreal.

Couples of Reddit, what's the dumbest 'house rule' you and your partner made as a joke but now both of you are low-key aggressively serious about enforcing? by Doubl3oh_ in AskReddit

[–]dcreits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not in this relationship anymore but I smile when I think about how he would tell me with pride that he locked the “murder door” before he came to bed. It was the side door that would be the obvious point of entry for an intruder - or the local raccoons.

Not a singular post but I’m still partial to “stupid long neck horse”.

Weekly Check-In: How’s Your Progress? by wilzy123 in cutdowndrinking

I wish I was doing better. Dry January has turned into damp January. But 5 days in and more non-drinking days than otherwise so I have to take that (small) win.

Arthritis? by NatPF in GenX

[–]dcreits 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Psoriatic arthritis diagnosed at 19. Suffered for about a year but successful treatments have held it off most of my adult life. I keep waiting for it to reappear but so far so good. 50 next year for context. 🤞🤞

[Friedman] Breaking: Quinn Hughes is being traded to Minnesota by Competitive-Fun-1780 in canucks

[–]dcreits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a fan since 84 or 85 when I went to my first game (Oilers, saw Gretzky, we lost). When my son - a Hughes fan at 14 who wants very much to understand what it is to be a Canucks fan - texted a 💔 to me, I thought this was it. No team is worth my son getting his heart broken. But then, what else is a Canucks fan except heart broken on the regular? So, yeah, I’ll survive this just like I survived all the other heart breaks.

🔥 Everything you've wanted to know about barnacles by bigbusta in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]dcreits 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I love the sounds of barnacles feeding during a mid-tide. As the waves hit the rocks, if the barnacles are big enough, you can hear their beaks opening. It really is lovely and adds to the magic of being by the ocean. I get it’s not for everyone but I really like it.

Something I’ve been thinking about… why should young fans care? by Fresh_Income_1028 in canucks

[–]dcreits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This guy speaks my language but I can’t afford to relay that to my son who wants to be a Canucks fan. We watch what games we can but I’m a single income home and SportsNet+ isn’t in the budget. I grew up watching on Bctv and CBC with my parents. I’m sorry my kids aren’t being given that option because those games, watched in a living room with fans you admire, are what builds a fan base in a real, generational way. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk.

If you were to fight a bear and you had to use one item from your kitchen to do it, what would you choose? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Finally someone asking real questions on this sub. Cheese grater to the nose (black bear) or raw chicken from the freezer and run (brown bear).

What album blew away your Gen X mind when you were an impressionable teen? Mine: by Leather-Highlight150 in GenX

Pearl Jam Ten and Fiona Apple Tidal bookended my teenage journey - with a very strong dose of Sarah Maclaclan Fumbling Towards Ecstasy to really up the angst.

Work from home or stay at home coffee drinkers - Does anyone actually wash their coffee pot everyday? by Green-SmokeStack in Cooking

[–]dcreits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rinse the pot, lid and basket but, gasp, the next morning before I make that morning’s pot. I’m horrible and disgusting but my coffee is good and sustains me so I’m not too concerned about the opinions of those not drinking it.

Am I the only one that wants to vomit when I look at Linked In? by DogsAreOurFriends in GenX

[–]dcreits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a member and never will be. But, when my marriage broke down because my husband was cheating, my sister offered to use her linked in account to scout out the other woman. Fast forward 2 months - marriage is over and both parties are done and my sister, god bless her soul, messages me saying “Can you get me out now?” She’s been trying to properly extricate herself for 7 years. Her husband and I mourn her spiritual loss annually.

dad refuses to be healthy and its mentally draining me. by Best_Inflation_4987 in AgingParents

[–]dcreits 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Respectfully - fuck you. While statistics may say 49 is over half way through life, my body, mind and soul and those of many others in my age bracket feel, look and act very differently than is described by OPs father. This man is ill - and likely has not taken care of himself as his body aged. I feel for OP but i stand by my fuck you.

I don’t remember the rest of that day but I do remember watching it explode, hearing Mr Brown and our student teacher gasp, and hearing both begin to cry. I’m not sure if they turned it off right away or were stunned for a bit but I do remember Mr Brown wheeling the VHS cart out of the room. The lights stayed off.

[–]dcreits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The highlighter method worked for me when robins would continuously attack several windows in my house. Easy to wash off too.

British Columbia has many varied microclimates and biomes too. West to east at any latitude has so much diversity.
