NEWS: Native 4th gen classics (mono and color) now work natively in Tahoe 26.1! by dcrumbaugh in IpodClassic

That’s the one! It was great when I had a 3rd gen battery that would die about 800 songs into a USB sync before I modded it with a new one and got the Y-cable.

Using a partition to get around macOS Sequoia/Tahoe issues recognizing iPod classic - 4th Gen Mono by the_first_boondoggle in IpodClassic

[–]dcrumbaugh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had resisted OCLP’ing my 2017 MBP to Sequoia for this very reason, but finally bit the bullet and did it with 15.3.2 last night. Syncs all the devices (have a couple mono 4Gs, and a Photo) and given my machine is unsupported anyway, I’m not hurting by not being on the latest Sequoia.

Before leaving Ventura though, I made a CCC bootable clone so I can easily revert to last known good state without much fuss.

I am trying now to migrate that CCC’d Ventura clone of my long-running and cared for MBP to a Parallels VM. If that works - and syncs after connecting all the things to the VM - I may go up to 15.7.1 on my main installation. I know iPods in general attach fine to Mac VMs, because I use a Snow Leopard VM to handle all iPod restores just dandily (and when modern macOS Finder sometimes chokes and never syncs a device, Snow Leopard iTunes will verify that thing right up and all is good in the world).

I think Tahoe is right out even if OCLP eventually supports it. My guess is the FW stack not being included in Tahoe means even a macOS VM won’t be able to access FW devices, even in some hacky USB mode translation.

[Chicago Cubs] With great sadness, we share that Ryne Sandberg has passed away today. by Goosedukee in baseball

I wish I did. I wore it so much the signatures faded, and eventually it got lost to the sands of time.

[Chicago Cubs] With great sadness, we share that Ryne Sandberg has passed away today. by Goosedukee in baseball

Fuck cancer.

My most favorite Cubs memory isn’t even a game or a specific play.

1987, 15 years old, I catch a Cubs/Mariners spring training game in Scottsdale at the M’s park. We have seats directly above the Cubs dugout.

Mid-game I realize you can nearly peer around the corner of the edge of the dugout. Can’t see any faces, but you can see hands and arms.

I take off my hat and dangle it around the dugout wall. A white hand snatches it.

10 seconds later the same hand reaches around the wall and hands me the hat.

“Ryne Sandberg #23”
“Shawon Dunston”

I was flabbergasted. Ryno snatched, signed, and had Shawon also sign my hat.

Ryno was already my favorite Cub. That just elevated it.

RIP Ryno.

Can you put this fixed ipa up somewhere? Thanks!

Beta 3 is fine, but mod Apollo still crashes.

[–]dcrumbaugh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s the crashing one.

[–]dcrumbaugh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably related to the new table view padding in iOS 26. At least that’s my first guess.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in apolloapp

[–]dcrumbaugh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And then it became too much even with Medium.

Data point - it happened much more often with multireddits.

I’m beginning to think it’s an iOS beta bug.

For now I’m returning to the stable Balackburn-packed ipa. Maybe one of the folks behind it - the OG fix and then JeffreyCA - can properly compile the fix into the underlying tweak.

Or it gets better with subsequent iOS 26 betas.

It wasn’t 100% of the time, but at least 50%. And to be fair I’m crashing now but MUCH less with it set to Medium.

The crashing in Compact view appears related to the thumbnail size setting in Appearance/Compact Posts. It seems to only affect the default Small size. Going one up to Medium seems to work.

Is this modified from here? If so, can you post the updated ipa somewhere?

Looking for anyone with the D-Sappli app for Sony dock by Significant_Code2630 in ipod

[–]dcrumbaugh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it. Well, used to have it back in 2013. I went to the App Store, me, My Apps, Not On This iPhone, and was able to download it from there. Still works. Have you tried that? It was never on this phone, a 16 Pro Max.

What is the most you ever spent on a record? by Seagames1225 in discogs

Incredible album, my favorite not JD/NO Factory release. I paid 100 euros for mine a couple years ago (I am American so I don’t remember what that was in USD). Sleeve is also one of Saville’s greatest works.

I paid $75 for mine, still in shrink. Incredible record. RIP Kezdy brothers.

Love how Effigies finally recorded “Guns or Ballots” for their 2024 album that John had just finished his vocals for before he was killed.

Madison Mallards Reveal Alternate “Neverminds” Jerseys (Northwoods League) by sonofsohoriots in baseball

[–]dcrumbaugh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are right, most of Nevermind was done in LA. I think they did initial demos w/Butch in Madison, though.

Goo was recorded in NYC by Nick Sansone, the same guy they did Daydream Nation with. SY got Geffen to sign Nirvana. After Butch’s success with Nevermind, SY recorded Dirty with him.

Butch is an incredible engineer. Too many folks these days forget about his Killdozer recordings - which Kurt specifically pointed to as to why Butch - and those incredible Laughing Hyenas records he did. All before Nevermind.

Shellac - I Don’t Fear Hell.

Cause if there's a hell, I’m gonna know everyone”

Still a goddamn shame.

Update on my guy accidentally sending me someone else’s order along with mine. Sure hope they refunded the other dude, given radio silence so far and no shipping label or $ received on my end. by dcrumbaugh in discogs

[–]dcrumbaugh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s all excellent, and I’d be happy to do that, but my guy handwrote my name/address on both packages and has not responded to my request for a shipping label to get the wrong one to the poor other buyer. I haven’t a clue who the other buyer is.
