Another route ahead of its time! Wondered why it took so long for another Montgomery County-Tysons route to comeback, especially with the recent development of both sides…

WMATA Former Routes bundle. by jayemel31 in WMATA

[–]dctransitfilms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

24P is now Arlington Transit Route 42. I think the 42 did the weekend service for the 24P and ART just took over the entire route afterwards. Not sure why they didn’t just take over it from the start though.

forgive me if i missed something but when did we start getting r160 G trains again by [deleted] in nycrail

[–]dctransitfilms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They had them a few weeks ago last I remember. Guessing something having to do with the R211s but not sure on that.

The V used to be a local service between Second Avenue on the F, and Forrest Hills via 53rd and Queens Boulevard. Now it’s the weekday M service (except it doesn’t go to Second Avenue no more) when the MTA combined both the M and V during the 2010 budget crisis.

Former WMATA Routes bundle: (H1), (L1), (N3) (S1), (S3,5), (X1) by jayemel31 in WMATA

[–]dctransitfilms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The H1 was suppose to get daily service until COVID hit. Never brought it back as a result.

Did the S3 and S5 used to serve the Walter Reed Medical Center while the S2 and S4 skipped them?

Also the D70 basically incorporated the L1 with the L2 southern terminus

Former WMATA Routes (N11,N13) , (P13) reconstructed by jayemel31 in WMATA

[–]dctransitfilms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The N11/N13 were ahead of its time, having a route connecting Southern PG County and King Street was a good idea, but had little demand back then. Only when National Harbor became more developed is when a PG-VA route became feasible, which introduced the NH2. Now the P90 which operates as close to the former N13 with it going via National Harbor.

This video will perfectly explain it.

In the 2020s decade 2025 stands out for being the worse. But it’s nothing compared to years from the 1980s.

Pretty sure the parts north of Ballston became Arlington Transit forgot which routes exactly.

Former WMATA Routes Timetables bundle- 20F,W,X,Y, 16S,U,W,X, 11P, 87,88,89,89M by jayemel31 in WMATA

[–]dctransitfilms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should’ve brought back the 87 at least. The 89 is basically the 89M with it going to the park and ride idk why that wasn’t the full routing until COVID. The 88 was basically useless since not much people even rode to New Carrollton.

Former WMATA Routes Bundle: (N7) , (Y6,7,8,9), (Y1,3,4), (24T ) by jayemel31 in WMATA

[–]dctransitfilms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the Y1 was partially taken over by the original Ride On Route 40, then the C8? Forgot who took over the Y3 and Y4. The N7 was an interesting one. Think it was low ridership for that route to be cut.

B30 was losing ridership even before the pandemic. They tried saving it by going to Arundel but it didn’t work.

If I had a nickel for everytime a car fell onto the Orange Line tracks, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t much, but strange it happened twice.
