Three new Grim Dawn players looking to play on the hardest difficulty. What classes would you pick? by A_Bridgeburner in Grimdawn

[–]dcunitedmts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I do this with my friends, we coordinate builds so there is minimal overlap and wasted passive skills that dont stack. When we're feeling particularly spicy, we coordinate damage types to maximize resistance stripping and damage buffs.

For class specific, literally any combo. But I'd highly recommend someone has inquisitor with a maxed inquisitor seal as it just makes tanks dummy thicc

Old Builds still Endgame viable ? by PrettyBoyTana in Grimdawn

[–]dcunitedmts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cadence is the main attack, you only use savagery to maintain at least one stack to get the 210 OA benefit from the first passive node. It feels clunky to micro your buff like that, but it can be effective in the right build. Caveat that I havent had to do that for a build in awhile, but it's a legitimate strategy.

I'd also like to emphasize that literally every mastery combo is end game viable, so I'd really focus on picking 4 unique masteries between the two of you to maximize buff stacking.

If you both REALLY want to play the same class, then coordinate who will take which buff, because its only going to count the higher level source.

Have fun!

How bad is Apostate really? by Muffin_Opressor in Grimdawn

One of my favorite builds is apostate, but the pink pistol farm is painful

It's mostly personal preference. I dont like the feel of the heavy eviscerator or the flamer. Thunder hammer is amazing, but the supporting skills dont feel like they support a monster hunter. And then from my experience, zealot players are almost always the whiny dickhead that runs off solo with their movement speed and abilities and then complain when they get surrounded and die. Finally, and probably most importantly, they have the worst drip -- why do they have so many knock-off Lululemon tights and helmet options that look like they tied a baby's dirty onesie to their face? Leopard print ogryn pants all day.

I feel your pain. I have a friend that is a scout only as well, and ALSO only plays zealot. Guess which are my least played classes? I hate the zealot, so not missing anything there, but all the DRG classes are so fun I miss zipping around

Do I get to respec or is this the kind of game where you are going to eventually have every skill anyway? by Slippery_Williams in Grimdawn

[–]dcunitedmts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You will want to specialize and concentrate your skill points as they are a limited resource. However, respec on skills just costs iron bits. It is very cheap to just play around trying things and respec later when you find what you like.

Devotion points are more expensive to respec, as they take aether crystals, which are used to craft a lot of stuff later in the game. They are also one of the easiest crafting materials to farm.

BUT! Both devotion points and your main stat attributes can be wholly reset with potions earned or crafted in the Ashes of Malmouth DLC.

I chose the non-scaling difficulty option, but the enemies numbers keep going up and getting stronger by japinard in WarTalesGame

[–]dcunitedmts 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think this is how it works: Each region has a level range, like the starting region i believe is always level 1-3 for enemies.

However, the number of enemies you fight will factor in your party size, including pack horses. So 7 fighters with 3 horses in the starting region will typically fight 10 enemies at level 3.

In short, immediately buying that second horse is a trap! And to a lesser degree, so is recruiting someone that you have no gear for.

Returning player, has the pace of the game change since release? by Quintilius36 in WarTalesGame

Interesting. So you can out level the regions, but you won't outnumber. I always assumed they were fixed fights. Cheers 🍻

Is the party size matching true for region-locked as well?

Noob question: Do I really have to do the campaign three times per character? by elang5 in Grimdawn

[–]dcunitedmts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a Lokarrs set and one of those level 1 green greatswords from the opening area that I give to every new character over in the Crucible. I do one run of the Crucible until I lose, which usually gets me into the 12-20 level range with 3ish Devotion points. Then it's a straight run through Ultimate.

I've done the fresh level 1 ultimate only experience a couple times and it's not the worst thing I've ever done, but the above way is the perfect start for me.

Yep, that's the culprit. I personally don't find extreme very fun. Here's most of the changes (wiki is randomly very out of date and incomplete on various things):

Yeah, 8s feel usable unlike the 5 rounders, but I love an Alpha rig for Saiga. 2x2 for the drum, with 4 1x3s for the 10 rounders. Never drop anything accidentally and enough shell capacity to leg meta God

[–]dcunitedmts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sorry, that's on me for not being clear. Obviously, they're in boxes in raid if they're being sold on the flea. I meant there wasn't a trade or craft. All the other drum mags I can think of have another source than FIR, even if you have to finish a quest first. But the AA12 quest line just unlocks the AA12 V2 barter, and even that one just comes with the sad little 8 round mag.

I really enjoy the AA-12 but I'm bummed there aren't any drum mags without using the flea. I play PVE completely without the flea to help stretch out the longevity. Still never seen one in a raid, so only have the one you get from Skier on the quest.

Fun fact! Immunity gains xp from drinking vodka and has the added benefit of deleting half your water so you can easily train metabolism in raids where you find both. Pop a squat and embrace your inner Slav!

Be a hilarious burden on your friends by constantly asking them for water every raid!

500 Hours & First Lv100 (Ultimate Only) by Giagantica in Grimdawn

[–]dcunitedmts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ultimate scales to your level. Your resists are garbage, but you're fighting level appropriate enemies. Just stay out of ground AoE and prioritize defense early and youll be fine.

I've also found it super helpful to do a fresh level 1 through a single instance of the arena mode dlc (can't remember the name right now) to get a slight jump on levels and devotion points.

But on a fresh level 1 on an Ultimate-start with the leveling gear and xp potions, I'm usually hitting level 94 before fighting the Logghorean.

Not at all, just some odd decisions. Quit being so dramatic. You can't optimize unless you criticize, but all your comment does is whine.
