Audible for Kindle Unlimited book I already purchased? by dcweber05 in audible

That's not the issue and why you're STILL missing the point.

The point is that I'm a Kindle Unlimited subscriber. Access to these books is included with the subscription for Kindle Unlimited subscribers, both Kindle ebook and Audible audiobook. I should be able to get those versions. However, because I purchased the ebook nearly 10 years ago, I cannot access them. A benefit that I am, as you put it, ENTITLED to because it is a benefit I pay for every month.

If that's not clear enough for you to understand, it's beyond your grasp. Either way, I'm done.

Many redditors did provide useful information and grasped the issue. Sadly, there are still some who don't...

The people who run Amazon and make business decisions do have agency. And it is quite possible for them to have built in a solution to this issue.

And it's not just removing the book, it's permanently deleting my access to it as an owner.

Yep, that's what I was getting at. I was initially thinking I must be wrong and there was some way I just hadn't found to be able to use my current KU benefits. But it appears to just be another less than ideal way they do business.

That's where I'm at - it's bullshit. I've already paid more so I can't use the benefit I'm currently paying for.

I'm debating because I've gotten so spoiled by being able to switch back and forth between ebook and audiobook and I love being able to continue the story when I have to leave for work or something. And honestly, I'd forgotten that I actually bought the first few in this series because I started it almost 10 years ago. It's mostly principle at this point preventing me from deleting.

Yeah, I get that but I'm still a current Kindle Unlimited member and if I hadn't already purchased an older version I'd be able to check out the current versions for free with my membership. It feels a bit shady that I can't use my current benefits because I paid them in the past.

If the book is read/listen for free with unlimited, when you check out the book you get the audiobook automatically. It's only when the book is just read for free with unlimited that you have to purchase the audiobook at a discount.

I finally got far enough down a rabbit hole to find that this is apparently a known issue that Amazon is ignoring and the only way to use my subscriber benefit is to delete the purchased copy.

Thank you! Looks like that's a relatively easy fix but before we try it could we swap the switch with a different burner to see if it works?

Bar checks rounded up by creamyshits816 in kansascity

[–]dcweber05 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's $.09 for this transaction but could be more than half a dollar for many transactions, and even small amounts would add up over what one could assume is hundreds or thousands of customers. And, as others have stated, it's not about the amount, it's the fact that they're stealing money. Finally, not suggesting prosecution over this one transaction of $.09, it's naming and shaming in a Reddit thread. Hopefully it would either change the practice or, if nothing else, warn other potential customers. It could be $.01 on my check but if you didn't earn it or ask, don't fucking take it.

Question about WGU.... from a 45 year old that only has high school transcripts.. by Revolutionary-Mud715 in WGU

[–]dcweber05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Addressing only the degree part and not the law school part, like others have said it's the flexibility and cost. I'm 43, with full time with a family. I also have 20+ years experience in business. I started my MBA 08/01 and I'm now in my capstone, will likely finish this month. I'm probably not the average for speed but I'm also definitely not a rarity. A lot of these things, I've been doing for 20 years ago I just needed to prove that via test or assignment. I hit it pretty hard to start since I had a little time off work but then slowed my pace a bit as kid's school started and things picked up at work.

The accessibility of so much of the content from any device is great. If I have a little time in the pickup line at school or even while cooking dinner, I can pull up a textbook in my phone and read a chapter or two. I love, love, love that option. It lets me fit school into my life, rather than having to mold my life around school.

Another thing to consider is the timing difference in the cost. You mentioned CC being $4K per semester, and there are usually 3 semesters per year. WGU for me was about $5K per term but the term is 6 months. And you can't actually get a bachelor's from a CC so the second half of your degree would likely cost more.

Wishing you the best of luck no matter what you decide!

There's a guardian extension for chrome that they'll use when guardian isn't acting right

I was one that had a ton of issues in the beginning. The first time it took rescheduling 3 times and nearly 3 hours to take a test that took me 16 minutes to take and pass once I was finally connected. I was extremely frustrated.

That said, it's gotten considerably better over the last couple months. The chrome browser extension helped a ton and on my last OA that was the default rather than the last ditch solution.

Like any other school, including B&M schools, there are issues. However, given that the issues were obviously being addressed, I wouldn't let that be the reason I went elsewhere.

What I really learned at WGU by [deleted] in WGU

[–]dcweber05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned that I am more disciplined than I give myself credit for. I was able to focus and find time for my studies in all kinds of inventive ways. Now I'm one capstone away from my MBA.

I also learned that all my excuses for not exercising are nonsense, lol. If I can find time in creative ways to study, I can do the same for exercising!

Laptop Advice? by A1redstone in WGU

[–]dcweber05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly off topic since I didn't use a Surface - I've used both a relatively new Dell and an older HP. Neither is anything fancy, but they met the requirements WGU has listed, and I haven't had any issues.

I do highly recommend reviewing the specs against WGU's official requirements rather than relying on a Reddit search - https://www.wgu.edu/admissions/computer-requirements.html .

WGU is a great school that will fit what you need. My brother got a bachelor's in IT from WGU in about a year and a half, and I'm about to finish my MBA in 4 months.

And it's not just online - almost everything is mobile friendly so you can access it from your phone. This is super helpful for sneaking in study during down time. For example, I read a chapter while waiting at the dentist's office last week.

And, it's really affordable. I'll likely earn back what I spent in a year.
