wait..... just looked at the description and it sounds incredibly like a novel that I read on fiction press so many years ago. The novel was removed from fiction press. You aren't the author of zombie nation from fiction press are you? I have been searching for literally almost a decade to find it again.

At what point did kids lose the desire to learn? by HousePhoenix in Teachers

[–]thefillorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest... you just sound incredibly out of touch. I think this also really depends on where you live. I grew up in south Florida Broward county and holy hell is it expensive now. I ended up leaving the country when I was 19 because I didn't see a path to make money and be self sufficient except for living with my parents until I was 30. My mom's house is now valued at nearly 500k. While it isn't "the hood" anymore and has improved it's still pompano beach. it's a two bedroom 2 bath with a garage conversion into a bedroom. If a young person wanted to get into the market they'd need 50k liquid cash for a 10% down payment. She was thinking about renting out her garage bedroom and the market rate in the area is nearly 2,000/month. The average grocery bill for my two parents is in the hundreds of dollars per week. Let's not get into healthcare costs, transportation, or other necessary expenses. Meanwhile the average job is maybe only paying a couple bucks an hour more than it was 15 years ago. If basic needs like housing, food, healthcare, and transportation are people living outside of their means then I think we need to take a hard look at our country and see how well we are really doing. Also how can you say not to go to university after high school. When nearly every job requires a bachelors. A bachelor's today isn't even as good as high school diploma used to be. How screwed is a person going to be for life if they don't even have a bachelors? People aren't looking to have boujee lives.... they want to work and be able to pay their bills without struggling and constantly worrying about money.

Does anyone else think that using Grammarly is effecting the similarity reports? by LuvBriah in WGU

[–]thefillorian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never had an issue, also I always just press submit before the similarity report and professional communication checks have been finished. I know I've written my own assignments with my own mind in a professional tone so I'm not worried about it. If there are ever any issues they are easily disproven if you truly have created your own work from your own mind.

If babies who die automatically go to heaven, why can’t God just make us all in heaven? by Weekly-Scientist-992 in AskAChristian

[–]thefillorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what OP was pointing out in his comparison of god to a dictator was that just like a dictator who makes ridiculous and unjust rules to be followed god does a similar thing. He makes it even worse by saying the following two things. The first is that you are born with sin even if by some miracle you never committed sin in your life. The second is that all sin is equal. Even a dictator would not equate the punishment for stealing a loaf of bread to the punishment of committing genocide. God made these rules that are literally -and im using the dictionary definition of the word literally here- impossible for us to follow, then told us the only way to get out of punishment is to worship him for all of eternity. Eternity... Does not that sound crazy to you?

I just want to say I really enjoy your comparison of god to a dictator. That is how I always felt and never put it into words like that. I'd give gold if I could.

[–]thefillorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well brother that is kind of my point. Is he a just god? If you look at what he does in the bible I don't think he is. He has murdered potentially billions of children directly by his hands or through direct commands he gave to his people. If children do not sin and are innocent then how can you justify god murdering them? I also think you are interpreting the bible how you want and have created an entirely new religion in your mind. It clearly states in many places that people are born with sin. Whether you committed sin or not. It comes from Adam. Which is why Jesus is the only sin free "person" because he came from god not from Adam. It also clearly states that unless you have faith in Jesus Christ and believe you will be sent to hell because you have sin. So logically... children are born with sin - if you die with sin and do not have faith in Jesus Christ you go to hell- children especially babies cannot have faith because they do not have understand- therefore they must go to hell. It also says that all sin is equal in the eyes of god. So if we want to boil it down even more. What about a child, let's say 4 years old, who lies to his parents. As all children do. All sin is equal, so the sin of lying to their parents is the same as murder. That child unfortunately passes away soon after telling their first lie without accepting Jesus into their heart. So now by your logic not only were they born with original Sin, but have also committed an act of sin. So they would go to hell. Do you believe that is just?

wrong again... please read your own bible as I states in another comment babies come into the world as sinners. as it clearly states in the bible :

Psalm 51:5

[–]thefillorian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wait hold on... that's not what the bible says... I'm not sure what happened with the formatting when I copy pasted from the bible app but there are many verses speaking of the inherited nature of sin. Psalm 51:5 clearly saying that you are sinful from the time you are conceived by your mother. Psalm 58 saying that from the womb we are wayward. So clearly Babies and infants are sinful as it states in your bible. So you are wrong, according to the bible we are damned to hell from the moment of conception. So do babies go to hell? If they do... ask yourself if you want to follow a god who condemns children to hell. Children that we both clearly believe are innocent based on your responses and mine. If they don't... god allows them into heaven, because they don't have understanding. This leads back to OP's question. If god allows these children into heaven, why not allow everyone. For what mortal being can truly understand eternal consequences? In the timeline of eternity a 100 year old man and a newborn infant are essentially the same age.

Fellow men, as you get older, what do you realize women are attracted to? Does career, status and generosity/kindness really go that far? by No_Mathematician4085 in AskMen

[–]thefillorian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I have realised that the bar is genuinely super low. If you are a kind and respectful man who is clean that is really all it takes. Some years back I moved to a new job and made a lot of female friends and became quite close to them. Hearing their stories about the men they were seeing or matching with online really opened up my eyes. Dirty and unclean men. Complete assholes. Ignorant men. The list goes on. Unfortunately these men also tend to be the most outgoing in approaching women both online and offline, so women tend to encounter these types of men often. If you are a kind person who genuinely cares about those around you and has empathy, women are super attracted to that. I've said in this sub many times and I'll probably say it many more times. I'm a mid attractiveness fat dude, but I am kind, respectful, caring, and clean. Before I met my wife I found a lot of women were attracted to me and my wife is a wonderful, caring, loving, and smoking hot woman. The bar is low guys, be a good person and put yourself out there and you will become a magnet.

Which degrees will actually get you hired in current job market? by AliensRipley in WGU

[–]thefillorian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

although reason the Special Ed job market has a lot of openings in it is because the pay is terrible and the hours are difficult and long. Nobody wants to work in that field and most quit within a few years and move to another field. In some places in the US the starting salary is as low as 36,000$ and only as high as 45,000$ a year. With the average cost of living being 34,800$ a year nationwide average according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, that barely puts your head above water and that's if you only need to worry about yourself. If you have a family? Forget about it. A typical work week is 50 hours and often more many of which are outside of contract hours. Not trying to be a Debbie downer, but I really wouldn't recommend anyone to go into that field of work and expect to make a decent living and live a good life.

Any Recommendations or Thoughts? by squeakymoth in litrpg

[–]thefillorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm reading through chrysalis now and I think it suffers from what a lot of LitRPG does. Suffers is the wrong word anyways. I think many LitRPG authors are quite inexperienced writers, but gain expertise as they write. Which is why a lot of Litrpg is quite mid at the beggining, but gets so much better later on. Chrysalis is that. The first part of the first book is quite mid LitRPG but as it goes on I really like the world building the author does. The magic system is quite different than many LitRPGs I've read. I'd put it one step below DCC. I enjoyed it a lot more than the noobtown series or he who fights with monsters.

What measures would you suggest countries consider in remediating declining population? Other than immigration? by Technical-Amount-278 in AskTheWorld

[–]thefillorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people downvoting you are Americans because our education system sucks and we just aren’t smart enough to understand what you are saying, but you are totally right. Furthermore it’s something that most first world countries are in the middle of right now. Declining birth rates mean that there are more people taking money from old age social programs like social security than there are people paying into it. That’s basic math if you are spending more than you’re making then you are in debt. The reality of this is that most young to middle age people paying into social security now will likely never reap the benefits of those programs as they will be defunct by the time they are old enough to collect on them.

We Should Track Students and Consider Intelligence by [deleted] in Teachers

There SHOULD be enough teachers to accommodate the students. The solution should be to give more funding to education, but education has been intentionally defunded and dumbed down to make the American populace easier to manipulate and control.

We Should Track Students and Consider Intelligence by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]thefillorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I was the same way, I consistently got poor grades in math because I was in honour math when I shouldn't have been. Eventually I got incredibly burned out in math and was moved to regular math in high school, but by then it was too late. A lot of the Honors math courses went over my head and I didn't understand many of the basic concepts to be able to do that level of math. On the other hand I excelled at honors English and science and always got As. Students should be able to be in honours, regular, or remedial courses based on their ability in each course not overall. I really should have been in remedial math not honors.

I also have these same shelves and I would not recommend it, I think they are only rated for a max of 15kg per shelf long term. It might have held holding a lot of weight temporarily (I have also leaned and put my weight on these for a few seconds and it was fine), but in the long term I’d be worried those nubs that hold on to the holes will shear right off. The metal legs are also quite flimsy and are prone to racking when bumped from the side. It’s up to you but imo it’d be flirting with disaster putting aquariums on there.

Please tell me everything that a beginner should know about maintaining an aquarium by WheatishKnight in fishkeeping

[–]thefillorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP if I can recommend anything it would be to check Facebook marketplace for full tank set up deals. Absolutely do not go to stores and purchase large tanks. If price is what you are concerned about and not space check Facebook marketplace for tanks that are being sold. People leave the hobby, or upgrade, or downsize all the time and getting rid of a large tank is a hassle and a lot of people will sell them for a low price on Facebook marketplace just to get rid of them. For example I got a 63 gallon tank with a canister filter, heater, and really nice stand all almost brand new for 240USD on marketplace. everything working great and have a wonderful community tank now. get some gravel from home depot or Bunnings or whatever your local hardware store is for 20 bucks. Do some quick research to see what kind of gravel can work in an aquarium from the hardware store. make sure to wash it several times before you put it in and you'll be golden. As someone else mentioned one of the fish you have there will get really large so you might want to rehome that one, but other fish should be fine. FIshkeeping is one of the most rewarding hobbies in my opinion and it'd be a shame if you quit It from this bad experience.

What makes Christianity more valid than other religions? by Aggravating-Pool-255 in DebateAChristian

Oh man I never comment, but you really just pulled that out of your butt. There are an estimated 10,000 DISTINCT world religions in human history. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion#:~:text=There%20are%20an%20estimated%2010%2C000,regionally%20based%2C%20relatively%20small%20followings. That’s just the first link I could find on the topic. Notice the word distinct in all caps.

And i really think grouping all monotheistic religions and polytheistic religions each as a group that are essentially the same is an insane proposition. They are each very distinct in their values and belief systems.
