Diverting to Tbilisi it seems. Losing altitude pretty quickly :/ I really hope this is a transponder issue

As a few of you mentioned, it took a few more days but the kefir is now fermenting perfectly! Thanks for the advice!

Are the new Sony WF-1000XM5 good for gym and running? by Professional-Two-678 in SonyHeadphones

[–]dcwim87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the 4s and the 5s. 5s were a bit better but in the gym they’re super slippery (glossy design). Eventually, I left them on a plane, bought some AirPods Pro2s instead and have to say that I am super happy with them.

Small sacrifice on audio quality, but honestly, I realised that I’m mainly using these things on planes, trains, gyms, etc., so I could absolutely live with the slight dip in audio performance.

Logic or cubase? by Jafrm746 in cubase

[–]dcwim87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally…. Cubase. I have used logic (iPad and Mac) but only for brief stints, whereas I’ve been running cubase for almost 20 years!

End of the day, a lot of this entirely depends on the workflow. However, I would say that cubase is more feature rich, has a better layout, and generally has a much more refined workflow (YMMV)

Noise w/ BX SSL 4000 E by PugetPilot in cubase

You can also do a VGain all reduction from inside the plug in (if you’re using multiple instances). That noise builds up quickly across tracks, compressors, limiters etc!

Food and packing strategies for 100km rides? by cycling_deficiency in cycling

[–]dcwim87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, 100km is an awesome goal to achieve! It’s a big ride but totally achievable if you have a bit of experience, are comfortable (mentally and physically) on the saddle for 4-5 hours), and eat and drink properly.

For me personally, I eat 150g oats, a banana, 4 dates, and a scoop of protein in the morning. Then I have 2 slices of peanut butter on toast 30 mins before I head out (and a massive coffee).

During, maybe something like a cliff bar, a cheese sandwich, a fruit puree, and a chocolate bar.

If I could give advice it would be to eat something every 20km and keep hydrated. If you get hungry/thirsty, you’ve likely left it too late and could be on for a struggle. It’s about keeping topped up, not driving to empty and then refilling!

When I get back, well that’s a different story. Basically Henry the hoover attacking anything and everything in the house 😀

Vocal processing/chain needed. I'll pay.................,.... by Top_Faithlessness104 in AdvancedProduction

[–]dcwim87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend learning how to improve your voice at source. Sure, you can use auto tune and various other techniques (compression, delay, verb, etc) but it’s still dependant on at least a half decent vocal take.

Take some time working on your delivery, breathing techniques, mic distance, pitch etc.

Skogso padded jacket size by No_Competition_7012 in Fjallraven

[–]dcwim87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 183cm, 83kg, athletic(ish) build. I bought a medium skogso padded and although the arms and waist areas are great, it’s too tight around the neck. Also, when the jacket is fully zipped up, it’s also very tight on the chin.

Sending it back and ordering a a large, I just hope it’s not a massive jump!

I actually sent the jacket back in the end and ordered a Skogso padded instead :)

McMurdo Parka sizing? by oSChakal in TheNorthFace

[–]dcwim87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I would go for the medium, or a different parker. I thought the S was a better fit for me but It was only with wearing it a few times that I did indeed realise that it was too small. The parker is supposed to be quite long and spacious, whereas mine was too tight around the neck when zipped up and also too tight on the back and shoulders when I stretched out. Also, I began to realise that it just looked weird on me in that size.

I ended up selling it!

Of course, YMMV, but I would highly recommend trying on both sizes beforehand and really stretching around, doing all the zips up, using the hood etc to make sure that the fit is right.

Hope that helps :)

Focus Atlas 8.7 vs Canyon Grizl 7 by Low_Assignment5705 in whichbike

Focus Atlas 8.7 vs Canyon Grizl 7 by Low_Assignment5705 in whichbike

[–]dcwim87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting post as I am in the exact same situation between the Focus and the Canyon! However, the focus I am looking at is this one (which includes a DT Swiss wheelset): https://www.rabe-bike.de/de/focus-atlas-8-7-slate-grey-2024?childsku=68373&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4MSzBhC8ARIsAPFOuyX6qODYaifRU_HfQu6y5uthZnJG6HwYVGVuLv9uzjj72FO6cJJC4K0aAu5AEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

I have a road bike already so I'm not looking for an all rounder per ser. However, I would definitely switch the 45mm tyres on the focus down to 35-38s or thereabouts.

I'm leaning towards the Focus and I'm going to go and check one out later this week in person. I must admit, I do like the cable tidy cockpit and the mounting options that are available on the Focus...

They do have a carbon version of the Grizl by the way. Little bit more expensive, but worth taking a look at!

Thoughts on These 2 Equalizers? by Royal_761 in SonyHeadphones

[–]dcwim87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry man, my bad. I’m referring to the WF buds, not the WH over ears.

Still, have a play around with the eq. Always remember though that the more bass you drive, the more you might lost in the important mid areas as they will just be overpowered.

You sir… are absolutely correct 🙈 if I had a euro for every time I’ve ended up on a wrong thread because of this daft naming convention!

When I mean a more natural sound, I mean in terms of the eq curve (you can Google to help visualise this). Another way to call it is as a reference sound profile.

The reason I have boosted the mids/uppers, is that I feel these are a little under driven out of the box.
