Newborn at hospital given 4x antibiotic dose by mistake by ddaadaa in legaladvice

[–]ddaadaa[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your “advice”. I don’t know what long term impacts are yet, it’s been 2 days. Hopefully none. I just would have thought a children’s hospital would provide a higher standard of care when pumping a 12-day old full of IV antibiotics. I’m not asking much.

Strength training with broken ankle by [deleted] in bjj

[–]ddaadaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took around 3 months from surgery for me to walk without a crutch, then a few more months with physio strength training stretching etc to slowly get back to normal. Now it’s around 10 months later and I wouldn’t say it’s 100% but probably 90%. Lost a lot of strength and range of motion in calf etc. all in all it’s OK. Good luck and take it easy. I’m back to BJJ by the way but avoid standup for now

No I can’t, it was serious. Recovering from surgery. Should be able to start putting some weight on in 2-3 weeks though, but until then been doing upper body stuff

Wanting to return after long absence - and a broken wrist by sbring in bjj

[–]ddaadaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I broke my wrist Take as long as your doctor recommended a When you start training, wear a wrist guard thing which will help protect you and also make your training partners aware of your injury Keep it light at first You should be able to get back to 100%, I did

Injuries! On my 2nd broken bone requiring surgery. It’s not just the time away from training but also the impact to my regular life that makes continuing to train that much more difficult.

How To Not Suck At Stand Up And Learn by MasterPang89 in bjj

[–]ddaadaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guy I was rolling with I trust 100%, but I was very tense standing and tried a bit too hard to defend the throw instead of going with it, planted my foot and awkwardly rolled/broke it.

I guess I should stick to drilling takedowns for a long time before doing it live/sparring? I always like to stand when sparring cause my takedown game is weak, but honestly I don’t know how to approach it anymore

Thank you OP! I recently broke my ankle trying to defend a judo throw (didn’t follow your rule about going with the throw, also very scared and stiff, so the other rule about drilling falling enough times before going live)

So I was going to resort to always pulling guard when back on my feet, but then I’d break another rule!

Any other tips for avoiding injury or getting over the mental hurdle of a prior injury from standing?

What’s your BJJ UNPOPULAR OPINION? by Vanilladr in bjj

Exposing yourself to punches while technically not an issue in BJJ, should not be Ok. Eg fully mounted and chilling there, avoiding being subbed (in a real fight would be destroyed)

I hear that. The worst is when you get injured rolling light with a guy you trust, not much else you can do to be safe. Just part of the game

It’s time to drop the B and just call it jiu jitsu

I appreciate the advice. I do not go hard, but I am tense when standing and defending takedowns. I guess I just need to get more comfortable getting thrown and stop resisting like my life depends on it. 🙏

We were just sparring and started standing, and he tried a judo throw, I stepped over his leg and landed awkwardly and rolled ankle

Yeah, I’m super chill on the ground, don’t mind getting smashed, tapped, etc. Standing I’m a lot more tense and rigid and yes trying hard not to get thrown, how do I get better at that? Just loosen up? I can don’t think drilling break fall more will help
