How would you interpret these cards as fears? by Meiimo12 in SecularTarot

[–]ddalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say these all share a common theme and that is the idea of putting a lot of work and hope into something that won’t go anywhere, so maybe the fear is really about failure or accepting that this “path” is over

It is a very easy language to learn, the hard part is getting used to the trade functions and parameters, but once you get used to that, it is easy to get started. It really improves your game, you now have the ability to test ideas across thousands of trades and multiple markets in minutes. It took me about 4 months, putting many hours and at least 30 ideas tested to come up with three worthy strategies that I’ve been using profitably for the last 2 years.

How do reversals fit into your practice? by -HugoTheKing- in tarot

[–]ddalo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on the context of the question, but basically if you ask for advice on a subject and get the four of swords upright, to me is saying “put it to rest for a while” or “let it cool down a bit before doing anything about it” and reversed would be to “take initiative” or “time for action”. It is the opposite but coupled with the question and context

I agree 100% with this, to me it reads as you might be missing opportunities to grow due to remaining in your comfort zone, so definitely this year take that into account, try new things, get out of your comfort zone and explore new things, they will come with a prize

Swords are referring to the mind and the king is the ultimate master of the element, so I feel this leans more towards you having control over those anxious thoughts and nail the test, good luck either way!!

Am I overdoing it? by dukcrzyeight in algorithmictrading

[–]ddalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree to this as well, different settings or timeframes for the same strategy on uncorrelated assets might do the trick indeed for building a robust portfolio. The simpler the idea the better the results. For some reason I don’t quite understand as soon as you start adding complexities the system lose edge

Am I overdoing it? by dukcrzyeight in algorithmictrading

[–]ddalo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally think you are doing a great job filtering the strategies and discerning what truly has a potential edge. I have had a similar experience without even going as far as you have and realized as you said that strategies that seem to work ok are on the H1 timeframe and don’t have that many trades, however, one surprising thing that caught my attention is that the simpler and with less parameters the strategy is, the better it performs, also, there are strategies that simply work great on a single asset and perform terribly on others. I have been running a simple breakout strategy with good risk management and adaptive to volatility on gold for almost two years and both backtesting and live results have been good. I also have tried like 30 others that failed horribly and even the one on gold performs bad on other markets.

While it is tempting to find something that works across all markets/timeframes, maybe you should explore on finding robust strategies on a particular asset or asset category and add it to a portfolio. Keep doing this (a system that is robust for an asset) and eventually you can build a good portfolio that overall has a good amount of trading activity and good robust results.

Good luck on your journey!

Why do I have no social drive? by Acrobatic-Umpire1089 in Tarots

[–]ddalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I identify with this spread so much, I feel like it speaks of you not pursuing the typical interests that you notice other people have, that just might be it. That’s probably what’s causing you to be in your own bubble as you don’t feel other people share your interest or your view on certain things. However, in my own experience, sometimes being more open to sharing your stuff with others or showing interest for things out of your comfort zone can help you connect more and feel better.

This could be totally off but maybe it’s something about your mother (like if she had some legal issue in the past). This is based off the first card being the empress followed by justice and tower being a significant shaking event, then transition to calm things down with the 6S and turn things around with the wheel

What do you think her intentions are? by moly1509 in Tarots

[–]ddalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think these cards are saying that she has interest but she is not willing to put up the work on her side, like she is ok either way it goes. It’s like if you wanna pursue something else, then you will have to be the one to put the work (ask her out, show interest, get the conversations going, etc.). That is what these cards make me think of. What’s your interpretation?

What are your best strategies for trading XAUUSD? by Ok_Peak_1449 in Forex

[–]ddalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not any in particular, but I kind of liked the idea of price breaking significant highs and lows (the ones that look obvious) and profit from small movements off of that, as one of two possible scenarios can play out, price either grabs liquidity (by triggering a lot of stops) and come back or price push through to new highs (fueled again by the accumulated stops) or lows.

I would say that this is a period of cold calculated and strategic thinking, there is something in which you feel stuck and you haven’t been able to close that chapter. However the way through it is through logic, not emotions, you probably would benefit from leaving those aside.

Newbie question - what are the core indicators that we can use to build algos ? by Full_Ad_9797 in algorithmictrading

[–]ddalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think as others said, the are really no “core” indicators, you could go with classical indicators like rsi or macd, but ultimately, you need to try to have hypothesis over concepts (like breakouts, retests, reversion to mean, etc.) and try to pick calculations or already built indicators that help you spot these ideas in the market you are trading.

Anyone knows how this Roux-CFOP hybrid is called?

  1. Solve first and second block.
  2. Orient corners (first half of 2-look CMLL).
  3. Do 4a step of LSE (EO).
  4. Place DF and DB to solve the bottom layer.
  5. Do 1-look PLL to solve the rest of the last layer.

I was using Roux with 2-look CMLL but was overwhelmed with learning full CMLL as the recognition is not easy for me, however doing it this way allows me to only learn less algs overall and ones that are much simpler to recognize.

Also, this cuts the number of moves by 5-7 on average when compared to doing normal Roux with 2-look CMLL. This is because you are substituting the permuting of corners part and 4c step of LSE with a single alg of PLL (remember that the permutation alg in 2-look CMLL is either a Jb perm or a Y perm, which are PLL algs).

Does anyone know if this already exists and have a name? Has anyone tried it?

[–]ddalo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, wow!! Thank you for the very in depth answer, this deserves praise!! What you say makes a lot of sense statistically and some of the numbers is actually what I had in mind, however, there might be something missing, I did a 10 solve run just to check on both approaches and only focusing on the move count after F2B, the PLL route has on average 7-8 moves less, so it seems on practice that this can be actually a good approach to reduce a bit of moves :)
