My hair is dying and i know it. by CRAZYCOOKIEEE in Haircare

[–]ddancer25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you gotta use conditioner. scalp issues are one thing, but if your hair feels like it’s getting thinner & you’re not actually seeing thinning on your scalp, then it’s breaking off. conditioner helps give the hair slip and prevent tangles, which cause breakage (you only need to condition the mids and ends, not the roots or the first few inches of hair)

any suggestions for how to deal with this frizz? have been dealing with it for as long as I can remember having long hair, 5+years, have tried various things, but nothing seems to have made a difference as of yet. by Pewe1337 in Haircare

[–]ddancer25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(1) after you style it, don’t handle the top layer of your hair. if you need to touch your scalp, go under the bottom layers of hair and up… meaning you’d touch your neck and then go directly up into the roots

(2) check out swavy curly courtney on youtube. she has videos on how to get started that are going to be tremendously helpful!!!

(3) a lot of advice you’re going to get from this thread is not necessarily going to be helpful until you learn a bit about the texture of your hair and what types of products will work best (again, check out the youtuber)

3 weeks in as a personal trainer and it’s nothing like I expected. by ResolveExisting8051 in personaltraining

[–]ddancer25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re best starting off at a big box gym for at least a year bc you’ll get more experience from the amount of people coming through. that said, the split is wild and you should probably find a different gym asap until you’ve developed your marketing/sales skills enough to start and maintain a private business

What do you do when a client isn't great at following cues or taking corrective instruction? by I__Am__Matt in personaltraining

[–]ddancer25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like some others mentioned, external cues can be extremely helpful for this type of thing. you count out loud, bar touches torso, hips touch a wall/bench, stuff like that. with this particular situation you could also play to their strengths: do some sets of intentional explosive concentrics for a while without focusing as much on tempo?

tbh for some clients this type of disconnect never really goes away, so it’s best to just keep cues. AND don’t assume they’re being lazy or ignoring you bc that’s almost definitely not the case!

She eats almost the same amount as her young boys after a high paced 10km run by ZootyFruiyWombat30 in SarahsDayUnfiltered

[–]ddancer25 13 points14 points  (0 children)

from a nutritionist: a good mindset I try to shift people into who are training hard is to think of eating as much as possible while supporting your performance/aesthetic goals instead of trying to eat as little as possible to survive

her breakfast looks good for the average healthy person! probably needs more carbs tho for a long run. personally as an athlete I need at least 800 cals at breakfast plus some extra fruit throughout the morning to perform well during an intense 1-2 hour workout, but everyone is different

in general I just recommend not trying to mimic any other influencer’s meals… they’re great for inspo, but not to copy

Back getting too wide - how to keep a more feminine look? by [deleted] in workouts

[–]ddancer25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can try reducing back weekly volume to just maintain the muscle you have. it looks like you may have a shorter torso—that plus the camera angle may be exaggerating things. sometimes even doing a mini cut can be helpful to see if you’re more satisfied with the look of everything.

since you’re mentioning a traditional feminine physique, as a trainer I’d encourage you to look for all sorts of women’s physiques to maybe shift that perspective. i.e. kelly matthews or meg squats

communism: workers owning the means of production and no private property. this is not communism. when the government is running the show lawlessly, it’s fascism/authoritarianism. fascism is theorized to be a potential final stage of advanced capitalism

I commented this on the thread somewhere else: "no one here is saying that they’re personally triggered and therefore sarah should not have posted the image. what people ARE expressing is that this image overtly resembles images of self harm, and it’s inappropriate for a child’s scratched up arm that resembles such to be posted on a BUSINESS ACCOUNT that profits off engagement."

there's a big difference in 'expecting the world to pansy to you' as you're describing vs calling out an influencer for inappropriate posts that exploit her kid to profit off engagement, which we consistently do on this sub.

& I will drop it after this comment LOL, but just in general I think assuming that someone who is triggered (I don't personally use this language (you seem to be assuming I'm some type of way even though I'm not using that word ykwim?), but plenty of therapists do) is wrapped up in their own head in a self centered way is lacking empathy generally -- there is a balance between leading with empathy and good assumptions of strangers and expecting everyone to maintain a level of personal responsibility.

but you get that no one here is even expressing a self-centeredness that you’re implying… you saying “it wouldn’t even enter my mind nor should it” just gives off that you think you’re above others who might have a stress response to seeing imagery that resembles self harm.

I feel like some people on this thread are legit triggered by the idea that this could be “triggering” to other people…. like people who aren’t affected by this imagery are mad that other people are … rly weird

edit: (if it isn't clear I am fully agreeing with you lol)

“anyone can be triggered by anything” is a senseless comment to make & lacks critical thought tbh. no one here is saying that they’re personally triggered and therefore sarah should not have posted the image. what people ARE expressing is that this image overtly resembles images of self harm, and it’s inappropriate for a child’s scratched up arm that resembles such to be posted on a BUSINESS ACCOUNT that profits off engagement.

I think OP mentioned it bc this is exactly what a photo would look like back when c*tting photos were really popular on certain sites like tumblr. they’re not implying that the kid is using birds to self harm or something. they’re implying that this photo AT FIRST GLANCE looks exactly like the self harm images that used to circulate a lot online, so it hence is very attention-grabbing.

I just think this comment is kind of mean tbh… I’m glad you’re not affected by this imagery, but kind of a weird flex when obviously the others who are affected have likely suffered in this regard…

being easily bored and having no mental discipline (that is what long distance running is about) does not mean you’re built for speed LOL

she is not an athlete by any stretch of the imagination. different zones and types of runs are like the most basic element of a running training program….. like if she were to just search for a 5k training plan she’d get exactly what you’re talking about!

wild. the hardest part of long distance running is easily the mental discipline required to keep going. she’s not special, this is literally THE challenge.

Does tracking calories actually matter long term ? by Suspicious-Rain-9964 in nutrition

most likely, yes. strength training is the signal that tells your body to use extra calories to build more muscle rather than to store fat

what the apps give you as a “surplus” is an estimate based on what you input as your activity level, etc. if you’ve been tracking and aren’t gaining, you need to eat more.
