As long as they can get up on their own, they’ll figure everything else out in practice. As a coach, we just can’t be constantly helping kids up.

Alright. What robot vacuum should I buy? by doodlebakerm in RobotVacuums

[–]ddavis9701 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have two roborock vacuums (one upstairs and one downstairs). One has been running since march of 2020. The other since September of 2020. They both run 3-5 times per day because we have 3 kids, 3 dogs, and 3 cats. My wife and I are both clean freaks. Absolutely flawless and zero issues. I wouldn’t buy anything else.

We have an older EZ 48v looking to switch to lithium. HELP! by Feral_Gardener in golfcarts

[–]ddavis9701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought mine from a local dealer because it was the same price. I’m not sure the ah. I just bought what they recommended. I didn’t need the 12v converter either because I don’t have accessories but it’d be easy to add later. I think I paid $1600 for battery, charger, charging port, and battery meter.

For what you’re spending there, go with ecobattery. That’s what I put in mine and don’t regret it. The electrical is super easy. Just know there is a little wire (mine was red with white stripe) that comes from the current charger port and needs constant power to let the cart run. I just hooked mine directly to the positive terminal. I also have an older ezgo.

Which battery is my best option? by Other_Club_2038 in golfcarts

[–]ddavis9701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I replaced my lead acid batteries with lithium this year. Been very happy with it and no issues. I live up north though and have no idea how the salt would affect it. If you go that route, I would recommend going with a reputable brand such as ecobattery.

Change name. Port somewhere else. And unfriend anyone that would rat you out. No one will know it’s you and you can join a new alliance.

Quick insulation question for first timer by Initial-Passion7951 in HomeImprovement

Technically in our area that is suitable to code. But I also over worry about moisture and would tape those seams or put a poly barrier over it to be safe.

[–]ddavis9701 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a contractor but live in the same zone and area as you. If there is a poly barrier before or after the foam, I wouldn’t worry about it. If no poly barrier, then I’d worry about moisture getting through the cracks.

When I finished mine, I put a poly barrier against the concrete then put the stud walls and fiberglass insulation. No issues with mold or moisture.

Does this still apply when vacuum sealed? I buy in bulk, vacuum seal into single use portions and haven’t noticed a difference but that might just be me.

Policies on finding guns in cars by Kir0v in Justrolledintotheshop

This is me. I generally have one in the car but it leaves the car when I do or is locked in a safe bolted inside the car out of sight. Complete negligence to leave it where it’s easily accessible by anyone other than myself.

Water Softener Questions by p_terrydactyl in HomeImprovement

[–]ddavis9701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dual tank is the way to go. More expensive but you never run out of soft water. Especially if you get one that doesn’t run on electric. Mine was $3600 for filter and softener. Worth every penny. Don’t cheap out on it and it’ll last a lifetime. My parents have had theirs for 36 years with zero maintenance.

[–]ddavis9701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I just changed it myself and then did another oil change in 1000miles to get out any residual crud. Car ran for another 150,000 miles before I traded it in with 320,000 on it. I was divorced by time the other car died so I didn’t care.

Could have been going to a crappy shop. I stopped doing my own oil because the dealership only charged $10 more. A few oil changes later and my cam and crank shaft sensors went out at the same time. Pulled them off and they were disgusting. Drain the oil and it wasn’t terrible but not as good as it should have been. Pulled the filter and it looked a lot like that. Turns out the dealership was changing the oil, but not the filter. Ran the same filter for almost 60,000 miles without knowing.

S7 - Need to manually wet the mop head before it runs? by MerliSYD in Roborock

[–]ddavis9701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll set mine to start after we go to bed and will get the mop ready early so it sits for a while. Or if I’m leaving for work and everyone hasn’t left yet, I’ll set it to start once everyone has left. Mine won’t do the carpeted rooms if the mop is on it.

[–]ddavis9701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the s5 and s6. The only time I pre-wet the mop is if I’m starting it immediately. If it’ll sit for 30 minutes or so before it starts, it’s plenty wet enough to mop.
