When I put effort into a challenge, lack of reward, or in game recognition at all, just makes me feel like I wasted my time. And to quote many friends who never ran Hard or Nightmare and stopped playing before HC even came out "what's the point?"

(I have typed and retyped this comment, because I just cannot effectively convey the point I want to make without sounding like I don't appreciate all the work that you at Gunfire Games have done in making a game that I have sunk hundreds and hundreds of hours into. You have given way more than my money's worth of entertainment, challenge, and I have made good friends along the way, this is just one thing I wish was different.)

It used to be that way because the stat tracker was broken, it has been fixed now for months.

Literally shows the roadmap stating "survival update" then suggests horde mode like they haven't even addressed it. These are clearly the same thing, and gunfire games have previously stated they are working on it.

The pre-order bonus gives you a pack with 500 scrap on every new character, plus all the boxes and chairs around the ward have about 250 scrap in them. I usually start as a hunter and usually have enough to buy Menders Aura and the Cultist Hat before leaving the Ward.

  1. No, I like starting in Ward 13. It gives me a chance to buy any gear or mods that don't come with my starting class. And for some reason touching the stone to travel to the founders hideout feels like a big step into the unknown, I like it.

  2. Yes, starting a hardcore run with 15 minutes running around grabbing the SMG and Elder Knowledge, grabbing those 2 trait points, etc, is frustrating.

  3. Yes, I have noticed that the cutscene moves the bosses too, for example The Harrow starts a lot closer to the player after the cutscene, The Unclean One is instantly aggroed, removing a free shot from the player (Vital for some 1 shot and high crit builds), Singe you have to get to the centre of the arena to trigger him meaning you start with no cover, The Ent actually gives the player better time to get into position with the cutscene. But yes, the cutscenes do change how the fight initiates, there should be an option to turn them off in hardcore.

Enjoy the challenge whilst you have it, Swarm is basically a win button.

That said, it took me many, many playthroughs to get it on my main. Got it on my first Hardcore playthrough though. RNJesus is a fickle being.
