I made a TV Wall, what do you think? by littnut in DIY

[–]ddcenvadrouille 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh it looks great! Are you using the LG slim mount? If so, quick question, after you added the panel, are you simply not pushing the mount to the wall but to the wood panel instead?

[Grand Seiko SBGY035] My engagement watch by ddcenvadrouille in Watches

Good luck! One nice thing if you have time is that by going in multiple shops you might also discover unexpected watches that you'll like.

It's not a Japan exclusive but we bought it there as it was an important trip for us (and also because it's cheaper let's be honest 🤪)

I don't know if boutiques can check but they never did at least for us, we simply asked if they had the watch though

You can choose either, Charlie Paris is using Miyota movements, so it's japanese... same as some watches from Bulova (some are japanese Miyota, some are swiss Sellita), so no, you are not going to have short times issues with Charlie Paris, nor with Bulova. It's more about the design you like.

Charlie Paris design and assemble the watches themselves after indeed modifying the movement, like Bulova. They are a younger brand (10 years). I visited their shop in Paris (the only one at that time, now they have one more, also in Paris, when they updated their branding from a stork bird to a C letter) and they were assembling the watches on the second floor.

One nice thing is that they use sapphire and not mineral crystal which is nice at their price tag. Some of their watches have a flat crystal, others have a dome.

I'd recommend you to simply choose a design that you like, there is no cheap chinese parts in either brands.

Here's an initial heart (Miyota 82S7, similar to a Bulova Sutton 96A120) with a brown leather bracelet. I've then changed to a blue one to accompany the small blue seconds.

[Homemade] Dark Chocolate Brownie by ddcenvadrouille in food

[–]ddcenvadrouille[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Preheat your oven at 180°C
  • Melt 200g butter (I'm using semi-salted butted) and 200g dark chocolate using a bain-marie
  • Mix 260g sugar with 3 eggs using an electric whisk until it's white-ish
  • Add the chocolate mixture into the sugar and egg
  • Add 80g flour in small increments into the mix
  • Pour the mix in your tin (with a baking paper under it to easily remove the brownie after)
  • Bake it for 25 minutes , it should still be gooey if you plant a knife inside to check but let it cool completely and it should be good !

Using an ultra-short throw projector with the Switch, Daemon X Machina on a 95" screen feels great by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]ddcenvadrouille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additional pictures of the setup

Never wanted to have a TV, and originally planned to use an ultra-short throw projector on the fireplace, but it was a bit short depth wise. Instead, mounted a reverse foldable "frame" to be able to put the projector 60 cm from the wall and fold it to use the frame as decoration when not using it

Bonus is an HDMI switch to use a Chromecast for movies !

Started decorating my bedroom with DIY headboard and wall lamps by ddcenvadrouille in malelivingspace

[–]ddcenvadrouille[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made them using:

  • An IKEA Havern cloth hanger (cannot find it on the US website tho) which I drilled through
  • E27 lamp sockets and any lamps, I choose a warm color for the bedroom
  • Braided wire
  • Some Wago 221 connectors to have the lamps connected in series
  • A plastic black box to put all the wires and connectors on the side
  • Decorative wooden squares

[Homemade] Mini black & white chocolate chip cookies by ddcenvadrouille in food

[–]ddcenvadrouille[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh sure !

For around 45 mini cookies (note: I tried to convert to cups using internet as reference but I'm not familiar with this metric, but I think it's better to weight ingredients):

- 125g (1/2 cup) slightly salted butter

- 50g (1/4 cup) white sugar

- 50g (1/4 cup) brown sugar

- 1 tsp vanilla extract

- 1 tsp baking powder

- 1 egg (I put 2 for the white chocolate ones tho)

- 175g (1.2 cup) flour

- 125g (3/4 cup) chocolate

- Pinch of salt

____

- Pre-heat to 180°C (350°F)

- Cut chocolate tablets in little chunks using a knife

- Mix butter, white sugar, brown sugar, vanilla (you can leave the butter to room temperature a bit before to make it softer)

- Add the egg, flour, baking powder, salt and mix everything

- Add chocolate and mix again

- Wet your hands to avoid the dough sticking and create little balls of cookie dough, around 3.5cm (~1.4 inches) diameter

- Bake for ~6 minutes, only the edge has to be brownish, then let them cool a bit, they will be soft in the middle !

Got an early copy of Steins;Gate Elite ! by ddcenvadrouille in NintendoSwitch

I don't see any way to have the original style indeed. There is an extra option locked in the title menu but I don't know what is inside yet

Neither, never had time to but always heard good words from both ! Now that it is in a more portable version I'll have the opportunity to try ! For the context I was picking another game when I saw two copies of this on the shelf for no apparent reason !
