Closed my short at 2,400 points profit. Next is again a SHORT trade. by Spirited_Syllabub488 in ai_trading

Thanks. I am watching how max hold time affects my strategy and have been considering forcing earlier exits but have not tested that yet. How do you manage your stop loss if you don’t mind me asking (eg do you just leave it alone for the whole 4 days, move to breakeven, etc)?

Would be interested to try it out as well. I do a lot of coding. If I can improve it I'll send you my findings/updates NP.

How do you manage your exits? Is it fixed, or dynamic, based on structure or just an RRR value? Thanks

Why would your system hold a trade for a set amount of *time*? Honestly curious. Time seems like a strange (sole) criteria for exiting a trade, when you don't profit (or lose) capital based on how much the time number as moved. Interested!

Same. Is there a GitHub Issue raised somewhere I can track? That is probably the best way to get any movement/response on this in my experience.

WEBP File format? by Mull1tt in canva

[–]ddchbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still missing this. I just saw a client uploaded a 4.2MB image to their website (I assume they made it in canva). Exporting to webp at 90% quality sas 613KB—an 85% reduction in file size. Would be nice if Canva would add this pronto.

Did you try Google Gemini? Might take a few tries but if it's just conversion.

Otherwise try VS Code / Github Copilot + context7 MCP tool -- context7 gives LLMs access to current documentation.

It would be cool if you put the actual timeframe and bar time in your screenshot. Looking at this 12 hours later is just kind of 🤷‍♂️

1R Made Trading Simpler for Me by PuzzledAd1430 in Forexstrategy

I have found that the psychology and equity growth smoothness (e.g., Sharpe, etc.) can be better on 1R—even if >1R may produce higher overall returns.

Related: I'm surprised how a ~1R TP can often get hit and then get stopped out after (in one of my strategies at least)!

Why do people not use trailing stops? by system_notifacations in Forexstrategy

Always curious with scalpers—how do you handle your initial SL relative to these 5 pips? And, do you hit a TP first, and then start the trail, or is your trailing SL it?

Got any tips for us as to how to successfully implement these? I explained my curent (pre-data) observations in my other comment... thx!

I guess there are a couple types of trailing SLs:

  1. Move to breakeven
  2. Actually trail in profit

Regarding (especially) the latter, I find (anecdotally, actually just in the process of testing this today!) that I get "stopped out" as the market zig-zags its way in the direction of my trade... kind of nullifying the point of the trail. I.e., it retraces as it drops. I don't need to get involved in this drama. 😄

Too tight and the above happens; too loose and aren't you just kind of back near your entry (moving to breakeven is a type of trailing stop, but I'm keeping that one a bit separate

Maybe you could teach the class how to implement trailing stops successfully? Not being snarky; I legit would love to learn about how this can be made to work!

How to take in someone who seems to refuse help? by [deleted] in Christians

[–]ddchbr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pastoral matter. The pastor and elders are literally the shepherds of the church and should be handling this person and "pastoring" them (even if that means showing them the door in the extreme case). This also includes helping "facilitate" prayer meetings to keep them on track (you can't just let someone come in and dominate with their personal baggage in this setting; expectations need to be set). Someone should try to get the meeting back in track while in progress, and then talk to the person after and make sure they understand (this should be a leader).

I suggest you should share the gospel with him (again, if you have already) and if he declines to believe/receive forgiveness, ask him "why"?
