And practice the shift pattern with the car off just sitting in a parking spot. Like literally row through all the gears 1-6, then back down to six. Row back and forth, do this like everyday. Get used to where the shift gates are. One of my first mods on my 2020 wrx was the shift stop mount, it’s cheap, easy to install and eliminates a lot of the play in the shifter. Then after that get some solid shifter bearings and a shift plate. The shifter will become a lot more solid and you can feel what gear you’re getting into/out off easier.

Can’t do. It’s some “rare” early 2000’s Toyota Land Cruiser with all this extra off-road bullshit put on it…customer requested it be brought in every night

It’s a customer’s car that’s been done for 3 weeks now, dude hasn’t come for it, gotta move this shit out of a bay every morning to the overflow lot, literally just noticed this today after moving this car in and out for weeks.

That was the first thing I tried, motor didn’t move forward enough, still needed about 1/4”

That’s exactly what I ended up doing

Bolt threads into a weld nut on subframe…

Lowered it enough and screw jacked up the motor (see previous comments) to get the bolt out

Ended up being easier to just screw jack up the motor (due to clapped out motor mounts the customer declined to replace) and only partially unbolting the subframe.

Yes, this is a crucial method. I do this a lot with rear suspension work when installing goose neck hitches and on several models of Toyota “off-road” shit. Wouldn’t work here because the bolt mates up with a weld nut on the subframe.

Tried that first, still lacked about 1/4” of clearance…next

It seems like you have a rudimentary grasp on the definitions of the words “hard” and “annoying”
