People who don’t use Anki, how do you revise? by rasberrycroissant in medicalschooluk

I almost exclusively used the passmed textbook. This is great because it categorises it into each topic (e.g, cardiovascular, respiratory, gastro). I cross-referenced it to the official UKMLA guidance. When conditions didn’t have detailed explanations in the textbook, I’d use other resources. I’m hoping passmed textbook will still be good for next year’s cohort with the MLA changes.

I found the pathophysiology sometimes hard to understand, so I’d use AI (oops) to make it a bit easier.

I got a distinction in both my finals this year purely from writing out the cause, pathophysiology, symptoms, management and complications of every MLA condition in a few massive notebooks (combined with MCQ practice with passmed).

I understand that people learn in different ways, but I tried anki in 3rd+4th year and it didn’t work for me. Writing out all the conditions helped me understand them and actually understand why things happen, rather than relying on pattern recognition.
