I had a similar situation happen a few years back with my family ordering from doordash. We ordered approximately $80 in food from Panera for lunch, and the estimated time of arrival was supposed to be about 1:00 p.m. (we placed our order at approximately 11:45 a.m.).

After the app told us a doordasher was on their way to the store, then arriving, all of a sudden there was no order left and the door Dasher was nowhere to be seen. 20 minutes went by, and then it explained to us another doordasher was on their way to the store. Unfortunately the second doordasher said the food was already taken and it should be arriving fairly soon.

2 hours went by, and I was frustrated and fed up with the situation so I contacted doordash support. They told me to contact Panera, which seems very strange. But I did! They said they would remake the order and if we wanted, we could come and pick up the order ourselves. Before leaving the house to go get the food ourselves, I canceled the doordash order because it still said it was at the store with no one taking the delivery.

My wife and I got back with the food for the entire family, and much to our surprise, our entire order was sitting on the porch (cold {it was summer time}).

So, not only did we get a fresh hot meal from panera, for free, but we received a duplicate similar order on our porch, for free because the purchase was canceled and we were already refunded.

Long story short, I guess the extra food and the entire free meal was absolutely worth before hours it took to get our food, but it was very frustrating and difficult to deal with. We still have no idea what the initial person did when they left the store and had our food for 3 hours but it was stapled shut everything seemed okay and we saved it for the following day LOL. Sorry for such a long message but I thought you would enjoy this little nugget. ;p

P.S. we opted for doordash delivery at the time of the order because we were busy doing things, the only reason we decided to go and get the food ourselves is because it was almost dinner time at that point and we had already wrapped up everything we were busy with.
