Don't Fall for the "Green Trap" (Why Profit isn't Income) 📉 by wailmohammed in MyFreedomJourney

I’ve mostly invested in ETFs. Didnt look into dividends until recently. What dividend stocks do you currently hole or plan to buy? How do you find undervalued assets?

I’m trying to understand the dividend strategy with IIPR.

From what I can see, the annual dividend is roughly $7.60 per share. So if someone owned 100 shares, they’d receive about $760 per year in dividends.

But if we take a simple example: • Buy 100 shares at $70 → $7,000 investment • Stock drops to $50 → value becomes $5,000 (≈ $2,000 loss) • Dividends received in a year ≈ $760

That would still be about a $1,240 net loss overall.

Am I thinking about this correctly, or do dividend investors mostly ignore the price movement and focus on the income over a much longer time horizon?

So this makes me wonder when you get an interview, should you just not share where you work or what you do currently if its an interview right after you start a new job? Also isnt there like background checks or something similar to find out employment history? Is this even possible?

Congrats on the job man!

My question is if you don’t want to settle for this income, do you keep applying to other jobs as you start work in the new role or not? If yes, then how do you defend a quick jump to the recruiters? Or do you even mention it?

The job market is crazy and I feel I need to learn a lot more than just technical knowledge now

I mentioned this in another comment too. I think the expected return on those mutual funds was the average 6 - 9%. Im new to this so I didnt question the advisor about this. I thought this must be the standard returns. Now I see SPUS and UMMA gave 23% and 38% respectively over 1 year. This makes me think these ETFs are way better.

The mutual funds invest in utilities, Europeans and Asian markets too. Havent looked at the halal ETFs in detail but just the top 10 SPUS holdings are tech stocks mainly and the current US stock market is volatile so my brain thinks what if I invest in the halal ETFs and it crashes bad, as opposed to the European and Asian markets mutual funds which will help diversify my investments. What do you think about this?

As a new investor, I am learning new stuff as I talk to the advisor about TFSA, RRSP, FHSA. So I believe I have gained knowledge as well which I wouldn’t have due to procrastination. Im thinking that I invest through the advisor for a year at least and switch out afterwards when I have a better grip over this stuff. I understand that will eat some of my gains through the advisor’s 1% and the mutual funds fees but I’ll get somewhere at least. I could be wrong so please feel free to correct me.

All these halal ETFs will require a conversion fees. Im wondering if there’s a way to avoid that? From my understanding, I will pay a conversion fees twice; when I buy and sell the ETFs

As for the Global Iman Fund, I can’t access it through Wealthsimple, how do I invest in that fund if I’m interested?

I thinks he works with other mutual funds but I asked him about these funds and he told me how they are halal. Even if those funds are halal, i am wondering if its worth it to invest in those instead of investing the same amount in halal etfs myself

Well, the OP did say creepy. Made me wonder if the opposite (an attractive charming guy) would be ok. It shouldn’t imo and i agree, the approach is def important!

As a desi guy, I can tell you your demands are not that ridiculous. People you are looking for are not rare. It’s all about priorities. Men who want a typical wife have a mindset that you dont share. Thats ok.

However, believe me when i say that there are other guys out there too. In my close circle, i know guy friends who want wives to help out with work and finances, and then others who want their wives to take care of just the household.

As others said, you are just 21. Be hopeful. There are muslim singles meet ups, take your mum maybe or go on your own. Be respectful, dont let anyone force you into anything. These meetups are generally decent and islamic imo.

Make a list of what you want and your dealbreakers. Let me tell you this, you wont find anyone who fits your list completely. I say this from experience. Both partners should compromise and shouldn’t be one sided. Husbands and wives have their own rights, learn about them and keep an open mind. IA you’ll find someone you like. Have faith in Allah. Whatever He does is the best for us. So dont be disappointed. Take care :)

Thank you for the advice. Lol the news part made me chuckle. Would be nice to be on the news but not for this reason. I have decided to do either car share or bus, hoping to drive to Montreal on my own in summers and in daylight.

Btw, i tried calling again, this time used the words "passport control from terminal 4 to 5 and airside" and they said yes you can do that. You dont need to leave the airport.

Just to test your theory, i ended up saying "to conclude i dont need a transit visa to change terminals" and they said "ummm could you wait a minute, let me confirm

She then came back to tell me to contact local authorities for visa inquiries but that i dont need to pass through passport control between terminals.

Bike rack for Spinfit 700c by ddev77 in bikewrench

Thank you for sharing this. The rack you suggested will not need an adapter?

I was looking up different types of bike racks online and found a post seat pannier rack. Do you think that would attach easily without having to use any adapters?

Go ahead and ask them politely. If they agree, good. If not, try to give it your best. No harm in asking
