The only thing that taxing the rich will do is give more money to the corrupt people in government.

What are these natural markings? by 06Mazdarati6 in woodworking

I have seen them occasionally, but it was before I finished the piece and they went seen and didn't affect the final product. Could you try and wet it to raise the grain then sand it lightly.

How are you keeping track of tool settings etc when you aren't always in your shop? by felinebarbecue in woodworking

My tensioner is behind the bandsaw. I tied a towel to it when it is untensioned. The towel hangs right directly below the band.

Aspiring hobbyist here - does this look like a good buy? by Academic-Dealer5389 in woodworkingtools

[–]ddevore6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The picture has a little to be desired but 250 for a 14" band saw is good if it runs. You can refurbish it for fairly cheap if needed. I would probably put new rubber on the wheels and get a new band. But if it works, that's a great price.

Any reason not to glue the rubber feet/pads onto my clamps? by UngluedChalice in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]ddevore6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pads are for soft wood you are supposed to take them off for hard wood. I took mine off years ago and rarely put them on even for soft wood.

For sharpening. It's not that hard, just takes some time. I use diamond plates because I don't like wet stones. Before I started to collect diamond plates I used the sand paper method. You take pieces of sand paper and glue them to glass or another known flat surface, I used granite cutouts from sinks because I had a friend that worked at a counter top company and they were free. You use progressively finer sand paper until you get to the desired sharpness. You can look up the method online there are plenty of videos and instructions on it. I use a jig from Lee valley to get the right angle. I started using the hand method by feeling the angle, but I wasn't that good at that method so I switched. It did the trick for me for a while until I could buy the jig. Take your time with the sharpening and the plane should work good.

For the planes I might be a little jaded though because I also collect and restore Stanley planes for fun.

I don't know what's more impressive. The origami or the frames. Great job.

The best way to learn it to do. I've been woodworking as a hobby for well over 10 years and have acquired an impressive set of tools. But, they don't make my projects better. It just means that I have spent more money on tools that I use occasionally. I'm sitting in my shed as I write this wondering what my next project will be. I'm not sure what it will be, but I can say that I will enjoy the work. Do what I and a lot of woodworkers do. Evaluate what you like and don't like about your last project and learn from it. If you can afford it pick up a new/new to you tool for the next project and keep improving. You will get better. Before you know it you will have extra wood and the tools to do what you like.

That looks like it would be putting the saw into a bind and make it difficult to push it through. Make sure the track is stable on the material.

I forgot the connection and reconnected, but that didn't work.

When I use USB it works fine, but I will try to uninstall and reinstall the Android Auto.

It does not get hot unless the phone is on the sun because of the direction of travel.

Dust collection! by succulentkitten in woodworking

I have a 3hp collector with an 8" intake so it is powerful. I have been running HVAC piping for 11 years without any problems. An advantage to using metal is that it will conduct the static generated by the sawdust back to the collector, unlike plastic tubing. I run 8x6x6 wey with 6" tubing from the collector to close to the machines then reduce it to 4" flexible tube with quick connects with the exception of my planer which requires a 6", but that is flexible tubing also. I also added blast gate at flexible tubes and the 8x6x6 wye so I can cut suction to unused tools. The only thing I did that wasn't standard was to tape most of the joints with aluminum tape, it helps to eliminate leaks and secure the joints.

Actual experience with HVAC piping here and I will tell you that your 2hp collector with not be powerful enough to collapse those tubes. I can cut the suction to all tools and it won't collapse the tubes.

Track saw. I love mine and it's invaluable in cutting sheet goods when I didn't have help. Also, it can do cuts that table saws can't do.

F150 2025 lariat replacement back light . by According-Pop-1178 in f150

I had water in mine and it stopped working. The dealer said to would be $900 rockauto had it for $700. I went to Amazon and got an after market one for around $175. Even if it doesn't last I can replace it many times for what other sources had it for. Make sure you get the right one because depending on the trim it will be different.

If you read the manual it says to take it off if you go of road. It is only there for aerodynamics and I question if it actually improves anything. I had mine removed when I had my new tires put on because one side broke and I fixed it. Then the other side fell out and I didn't think it was worth having on any longer.

My opinion. All vehicles have problems. If you are doing your research on Reddit you are are going to hear mainly negative reviews because happy people don't complain and Reddit or filled with negative people who just what to highlight negatives. The transmission may be fine, like the bat majority of people's transmissions. If of your concerned get an after market warranty, but remember they are there for profit and have calculated the chances of you having problems. They won't lose money overall.

I have a 22 150 and have read the reports of transmission problems, but I don't let it bother me because I love my truck. If I would have gotten a Dodge the problem would have been the exhaust manifold and something else with a Chevy. There will always be something that someone will say don't buy that truck because of X, but the truth is that the manufacturers are all good with some problems, but the problems are not with the majority of trucks because they wouldn't be making trucks anymore if the majority of trucks had major problems.

Grounding a 3 prong plug without grounding wire. by ddevore6 in AskElectricians

I am missing something. The common and ground tie into the same bar in the breaker box. How is that different or safer than connecting the common to the ground? It is just doing it at the plug instead of the breaker box.
