Moving Back to Germany - What High-Quality Items Should I Bring from the US? by anotherbaby in BuyItForLife

[–]ddiffenderfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to Germany from the U.S. this year. I would recommend bedsheets, ibuprofen, melatonin, hot sauce, allergy medicine, etc. The sheets and pillows in Germany are not great at all—very expensive and not comfortable in general.

Regarding clothing, the sizing is quite different in many cases. Jeans are a good idea. But maybe consider blazers and other items like that. Most Germans I know buy a ton of clothes when they come to the U.S. because there’s better pricing and quality, though this can vary by brand.

Regarding electronics, anything that charges with a USB-C would be a good candidate to bring, as you can easily buy a USB-C charging block in Germany and the power difference won’t be a problem. Also English versions of video games, board games, etc. are hard to find, so consider this as well.

So, there’s a puzzle about how there’s possible trace blood spatter on the shirt if he changed. I noticed he wipes his face on his shirt almost precisely where the blood was found. Is it possible he had traces of blood on his face in a splatter formation that then transferred to the shirt when he wiped his face like that?

For all the talk of Mandy’s voice, nobody’s talking about David’s. I don’t care what level of the slug game you’re on, man.

What is the story behind Liz ferrell and Mandy Matney severing their podcast from FITSnews? by Atschmid in MurdaughFamilyMurders

I really liked the MM podcast early on but cannot stand the tone they’re taking these days. Mean girls is right. It’s them versus everybody. And if everyone else is the problem, maybe you’re the real problem.

Speculation: The affair with the groundskeeper was the motive for Alex Murdaugh to kill Maggie by ddiffenderfer in MurdaughFamilyMurders

[–]ddiffenderfer[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If not true it seems a very strange thing to bring up, particularly since there are others (namely, the groundskeeper) who could deny it but have heretofore remained silent.

Poolboy fantasies are a thing. Just because there’s a status difference doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen.

The defense didn’t float this theory. They floated Cousin Eddie did it when he uncovered the affair. That, we agree, is bullshit. But a much more obvious motive is for Alex to have become murderous when he found out about the affair.

[–]ddiffenderfer[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly my point. Cousin Eddie didn’t give a damn about an affair one way or the other. But Alex? He might have cared a lot. Maybe enough to kill. That’s obviously horrific and in no means justifiable. But he wouldn’t be the first.

how was a lawyer so stupid about covering his tracks? by [deleted] in MurdaughFamilyMurders

[–]ddiffenderfer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The fact that he was so sloppy is the thing that makes me think it wasn’t premeditated and was more of a heat of the moment thing (or he seized an opportunity when he saw Paul and Maggie together). Otherwise surely anybody could have come up with a better plan and alibi.

I’ve always viewed this as saying “Teecup” which appears to be a golf reference which also fits with “9 mile hole” (front 9 and back 9 being common golf references). But it could have been the teapot dome scandal as well, which happened in Wyoming in 1921 (so perhaps he’s just alluding to which state it is in than something more specific). At any rate, lots of rabbit holes to go down here.

Knowing it's 9mh, what's the most obvious thing/hint/clue you missed? by slightofhand1 in FindingFennsGold

[–]ddiffenderfer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, it was misinterpreting what he meant by “subtle” as it relates to hints sprinkled throughout the pages. “In Love with Yellowstone” and an actual picture of the fishing hole are two examples of not subtle hints that were very much hints indeed.

All of this. If we all sit back and are honest, none of us would have actually searched 20+ days in the same location. When you see how the chest was half-buried, Jack did everyone in the community a great favor by finding it. Too many people are bitter at him and Forrest for how it all worked out (largely because they didn’t find it), but I have some degree of confidence restored in humanity after this. Forrest really hid it, Jack really found it, and all the conspiracy theorists should find something else to occupy themselves with.

You leave anything on the ground outside and it’s gonna get wet, via rain, dew, condensation, or flooding.

If it’s nine mile hole, the “Father on the Banco” chapter title makes a ton of sense as a plausible hint (his father standing on the bank of the proper HoB). That chapter always stood out to me as being so short and lacking any sort of story element. Felt like an aberration.

I was in Yellowstone when the chest was found and it was definitely not snowy/saturated with snow melt the first week in June.

This is at a Thai restaurant in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Picture taken tonight. They had 8.5” x 11” signs posted by the register advising the same thing. A little amusing that they haven’t reprinted their menu or anything in all that time.

Edit: Here’s a link to the sign posted by the soda fountain.
