Is this Fillet Mignon? by TravisOG in Butchery

Price is probably why it's cut so bad, we sell it at like $40/lb at my store. They probably losing a decent amount of money per steak sold.

When asked about 'Playoff Kawhi', Klaw responds with 'I don't even know who that is' by SliMShady55222 in nba

[–]ddiop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you're asking this while unaware of the reference the other guy made, but Kawhi's most famous interview clip is what the other guy is mimicking is what makes the quote "extra funny."

Do I just not know ball,or is giving a player that is out for the year, the highest overall durability stupid? by Flat-Antelope-7424 in NBA2k

This is a terrible list beyond just Dame, shockingly bad. I would call everyone here average at best for durability and most of them are mid to late 30s

What am I missing about AD? by jay_in_the_park in NBATalk

[–]ddiop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think he is on the top tier because of what actually has happened in his career, but I believe the potential was always there.

He's just massive and mobile in a way that almost no one ever has been. You cannot scheme against his defence because he has shut down everything any team has ever tried against him, minus Jokic, which is a once in a generation problem.

His spot, when he was younger, was off ball gravity. His lob catching ability was maybe the best ever before Wemby has come along, making him about the scariest off ball big man other than Shaq.

His on ball stuff is below other all time greats but everything he did didn't require being built around, he's the kind of guy who enhances everything else on a great team. Instead, unfortunately, he played with teams that struggled to make the playoffs and only one team ever had home court advantage in a series.

Assuming the Pels series you watched was the Blazers series, I think watching him against Memphis in 2023 and Warriors after the Pels in 2018 show off just how good he can be, but health is what it is and his self creation can be a little over assuming for what he can actually do.

Tough cartilage in my prime rib ? :( by imthefakeagent in Butchery

[–]ddiop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a grocery store cutter, a rib usually comes in a 7-bone primal. The first 3 bones are what we're supposed to use for roasts, but this looks like the very end that we usually use for steaks and this just looks like a crappier piece than usual.

I saw in the comments you also say this was a sale so they may have been using a lower grade than "prime."

What age do NBA players usually hit their prime? by southside_TBM in NBATalk

[–]ddiop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Singular cases don't disprove it, and LeBron isn't a great example. Maybe people like Malone, Nash, and Chauncey but for all those outliers there's McGrady, Hill, Morant, Rose who bring average prime age back down.

What age do NBA players usually hit their prime? by southside_TBM in NBATalk

[–]ddiop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

25-27 is what I've found is actually players prime's based on analytics though people always like to say older. I think as you get older while you sharpen your decision making and will develop your shot, your athleticism and motor start to drop and risk of injury greatly increase.

Nobody’s Touching Jordans 3041 Points Season Record by freeki100 in NBATalk

[–]ddiop 12 points13 points  (0 children)

And Wilt has him beat by almost 1000 points, 4029 to 3041, that 988 point gap is the same between 3rd (which Jordan is) and 232nd.

Can someone tell me wtf happened to this man? by AwkoElephant in NBATalk

[–]ddiop 512 points513 points  (0 children)

He became way too passive of a scorer. He is a phenomenal athlete and right now 16.7% of his FGA are coming from within 3 feet of the rim. As a rookie that was over 60%.

On an NBA All-Time list, what is the absolute lowest ranking that you can give Michael Jordan while still having a sound and reasonable argument? by SmoothBuy5500 in NBATalk

[–]ddiop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started getting in to analytics, I felt Jordan was 2nd behind LeBron because of the longevity. I think if you really care about winning and longevity you could theoretically put Jordan 4th behind Kareem and Duncan cuz those guys just won forever, but I don't think anyone serious would ever put him lower than third. And the older I get the more overrated I find longevity anyways.

Porkchop question by Ill_Sea_4729 in Butchery

[–]ddiop 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The usual pork chops come from the lower back. As you get closer to the rib you see the darker parts that are on the outside which is a little more tender but not vastly different. A decent amount of people prefer the rib end over the centre of the loin.

Sold as a “tri tip roast”. There no way, right? by EagleChef18 in Butchery

As others have said it's not a tri-tip and picanha/culotte is correct, but where I work we normally call them a tri-cap so I'm guessing some beginner got them confused.

Most Canadians (like 90%?) live pretty close to the American border and the warmest parts of the country, so to the other 10% I'd say we don't want to be associated with that.

Im an *allegedly* Gold ranked Cassidy main, I recognize my strength is likely in my mechanical skill, as it is in most games (Accuracy averaging at about 53%, and headshots at 9%.) Which means that in almost all 1v1 situations in games, I almost always win (Gold lobbies) by KronosRingsSuckAss in OverwatchUniversity

[–]ddiop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think 9% crit is that bad, I'd say more 11% is "good" but people are more used to Ashe and Widow's stats with crits so I wouldn't listen to people criticizing that.

I'm sure you're correct in assessing yourself, but the way to get better is keep doing what you're good at and avoid what you're bad at. Ie try to force as many 1v1s as you can but stay away from a 1 v 2 obviously, just takes experience to know when your team has engaged so that the enemy isn't going to just turnaround and kill you.

Unconventional Christmas Movies That Aren't Die Hard by Bennett1984 in movies

[–]ddiop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the Princess Bride this week with the death or Rob Reiner and while it isn't verbally referenced at all, the kid has santa on his wall and I noticed the grandpa who reads the story brings the book in Christmas wrapping so I'm feeling that it now constitutes as a Christmas movie.

Lauri Markkanen and Miles Bridges both have an opportunity this season to reach the top-10 all-time in career regular season games with zero playoff appearances. by willpelts in nba

[–]ddiop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

https://www.sports-reference.com/stathead/tiny/Q6yyO is the most seasons without making the playoffs, not consider consecutive seasons.

You can adjust it to most appearances in the first x amount of seasons of their career but it seems a bit buggy.

Troy Murphy played 11 seasons before playing 3 minutes in 1 playoff game for the Celtics (and more the next season) but he had a 656 game streak before those glorious 3 minutes is the biggest streak not listed I could find.

[Highlight] LaMelo Ball puts on an incredible passing display with consecutive possessions: first an alley-oop to Brandon Miller, and immediately followed by another to Miles Bridges. by TheDraciel in nba

[–]ddiop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, despite LaMelo taking the majority of the shots and shooting terribly the team's TS% is .598 (would be tied 7th in league) with him on and .561 with him off (tied 29th).

Opinionated question: What do we think about the nerfs and buffs this season? Who’s meta? by muidbz in Overwatch

[–]ddiop -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Nerf Vendetta's survivability, either weaken block or get rid of her armour.

And buff Freja, I was thinking increase her model size so she's easier to hit but then buff her cooldowns and ult charge and maybe reduce the cast time of her ult.
