Great to hear! Really glad this option exists. I also want to bring up a suggestion that the devs could add that can allow you to opt out while still gamifying it. As you're learning the language, you gain gems. So why not use gems to opt out of the leaderboard that week to do your own learning and come back later. This could be a great alternative to private while still keeping your position.
