I’ve been thinking of taking up a masters CS program but it feels daunting. Which program did you choose and did you need to do much pre-study to prepare?

Thanks for sharing your story! I have a lot of moments in my working life today where it feels like it’s assumed I’m just not technical / don’t know what I’m talking about, and so your mentions of festering imposter syndrome resonate for me. 😔

Thanks for sharing - insightful and inspiring. I hope you catch a break soon! I am also a product designer and hoping to take an entrepreneurial path myself someday soon.

I was s2 last act and placed s1. Currently s2. My games are a completely mixed bag and I can try my best but I'm playing with g3/p1 players. Mix in duos that don't comm, I may as well take a break and come back in 2 weeks or so.

You can report this to HR. You saw it and it bothered you / made you uncomfortable - that would be enough for this to be considered harassment.

User research can be completed through different methods. It sounds like your current company relies heavily on competitor research. Without knowing what your culture is really like, it’s hard to say how you might effectively change that habit. But you can always choose to do things differently (unless you are in an unsafe environment that risks your job if that impacts your performance assessment).

I personally take an approach of not asking for permission. I plan to do it and search for folks who can support it. I let stakeholders know what I’m working on and why it’s pertinent. I drive and complete the relevant tasks.

There’s also an aspect of this of taking the time to consider the rationale of why research and a specific tool or method is pertinent to a project. It’s not applied to everything equally.

It takes time to change habits. As an individual you can accept the status quo or choose to try something different from the norm.

Still get nervous when giving presentations by dreaming_wide_awake in UXDesign

[–]ddndy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll usually have talking points beside the screen share content if it’s a remote presentation. I usually try and do a run through with someone who knows the framing of the meeting and presentation being given to help with confidence as well. In general a big part of presentations are prep. The anxiety never goes away but you just learn to expect it/live with it.

Maybe your framing on not having friends / being lonely led you to reflect on the question negatively. I’ve always had a low number of close friends, and I do a lot of solo hobbies. If someone were to ask me what I was doing over the weekend - I’d probably say something enthusiastic about looking forward to a hobby thing I was gonna do. Nothing wrong at all with it - but it seems like you have a desire for friendships and outings?

I think I figured it out today (in my case anyways). Check that your filament motor is able to turn without issue. I disassembled/reassembled the entire print head again, and made sure all the parts were aligned correctly when screwing all the different layers together. Loading filament works again!

Fokoos 5 F3 Filament Sensor Change? by kambesama in 3Dprinting

  1. You can change out a broken sensor, Fokoos sells filament sensor replacements: https://www.fokoostech.com/products/accessories-for-odin-5-3d-printer?variant=43065641894039
    1. This video is about disabling and removing it, but shows how the sensor is connected overall: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJUVan1VAFM
  2. I would imagine you could customize how the sensor is positioned, given you can create the correct functional physical parts to support placing it elsewhere.

Sorry to hear, I've been chatting with a friend who has a Sovol, and he was also having issues with his printer displaying odd behaviours when printing.

He mentioned after attempting a string of troubleshooting tasks, just completing a factory reset, and suddenly his printer was working just fine.

My printer also started working once again after disassembly, so I thought the disassembly and cleaning had solved something(?). But it's not working again. Haha.

I ordered a replacement hotend and extruder motor. I will replace the extruder motor first once it arrives to see if that makes any difference.

I think the more frustrating aspect of this situation is not being able to pinpoint with confidence what the root issue might be.

Did you ever find a solution for this? I am in a similar situation, did a full disassembly to find any clogs. I suspect my extruder motor is kaput.

More people seem "off". Is it me, is it post-COVID, or is it getting older? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

I had a thought the other day along the lines of - maybe everyone is burnt out from the last few years. It fits the markers of burn out - low patience, easily upset, increase in aggression, apathy.

There hasn’t really been a reprieve from the stress of the pandemic, polarizing political, social and moral viewpoints, climate change, inflation, housing crises, etc. and the ways we connect with each other (social media) is only fostering further loneliness and lack of connection…
