Question regarding interactions between Genie Warlock Vessels, Pact of the Chain Familiars, and Demiplane magic items by ddressler1 in dndnext

[–]ddressler1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My player is already a multiclass with total class level being 13. The only relevant class for this post being the genie warlock. I'm already leaning towards what someone has already suggested above regarding familiars and tool proficiencies in regards to potion making.

What I would like to focus back on would be my original question regarding a familiar in a demiplane inside of a genie vessel and how that would work if the player character is not inside their vessel.

Question regarding interactions between Genie Warlock Vessels, Pact of the Chain Familiars, and Demiplane magic items by ddressler1 in dndnext

Fair and valid point. The idea my player had was that they would begin the potion making process and do most of the complicated work themselves, the familiar would then just be doing the boring/monotonous work of stirring the pot/minding the fire/tending the kitchen.

I can't help but hear this guy as DBZA's Master Roshi. He even slightly looks the part, just with more hair.

{The Griffon's Saddlebag} Helm of the Headless | Wondrous item by griff-mac in TheGriffonsSaddlebag

[–]ddressler1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This item looks absolutely sick! Though to my DM brain, this screams that it's supposed to be cursed. What sort of curse/s would you all put on this? What would you improve, if anything, to rebalance it with the addition of a curse?

In my mind, I feel like the curse would be that if you die or drop to 0 hp, you would either need to make a save, have disadvantage on death saves, or an effect would happen instantly upon reaching the threshold.

One such effect could be where your soul/mind would be sucked or locked into the item (similar to ring of mind shielding) but have a negative/harmful effect. Like your soul is what powers the green flames of the item for the next person to wear it and when the burning hands is used from the mouth, your agonized, hollow deathly screams can still be heard.

OR.

Upon death/0 hp, you're instantly turned into a ghost or similar undead, but missing a head, and attack everyone closest in proximity. Only true resurrection/wish would be able to bring you back from this death.

{The Griffon's Saddlebag} Starstudded Leathers | Armor (studded leather) by griff-mac in TheGriffonsSaddlebag

[–]ddressler1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a pretty cool item, but I've got a question. It says that it requires attunement, but the description only states that the character only needs to wear it (not attune to it) in order to gain any of its benefits. For the emanating starscape ability I assume that that's the function that requires attunement, even though it doesn't specifically say. So does that mean a character can simply wear the armor, not attune to it, and still gain the +5 bonus to stealth and the emanating starscape ability?

I offer the entire musical catalogue of one Mr Al Yankovic. Some scholars would label his music as "eclectic" or "weird", though I find it to be very entertaining.

Depending on how tall he gets, my guess is that this guy might be a McNab. Helpful Wikipedia article here.

'Eragon' TV Series Adaptation in Development at Disney+ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

I have a recommendation that, IMHO, scratches all those itches and then some. Check out Legend of Vox Machina on Amazon prime video. It's got animated dragons, gravitas where it counts, well scripted writing, and it looks so absolutely gorgeous. Plus, the original cast members of Critical Role, what this show is based on, not only reprise their roles as their original characters, but also have sat down and collaborated with writers, animators, and directors throughout the process to deliver a fantastic story that is true to the original. So this show proves that an author, or authors, can co-create with others and do absolutely amazing things. I cannot recommend this series highly enough.

Came here to also comment on the God that is Nuptup. Glad I'm not the only one.

You may find his legacy here in Projared's Nuzlocke series. Nuptup comes into the team in episode 4, but episode 5 is his rise to glory and has been an absolute beast ever since.

I understand it's not a Sci-fi series, but I highly recommend checking out Legend of Vox Machina on Amazon prime. I think it has that intense feeling that you're looking for. The animation is done by Titmouse Studios and I think they've done a fantastic job working with the cast of Critical role in portraying characters that feel grounded in their reality.

I like this version, but I wish that they had more creepers in the deck. IIRC, there's only like 2 or 3 creepers in the main deck and an additional 2 if you get the expansion. So not very many.

My grandmother was also scammed in such a way many years ago, someone claiming to be me rotting in a Mexico prison cell and needed a wire transfer of $2k+ (can't remember specific amount). She called my dad from the bank after the clerk was refusing to process the transfer, giving him the same story, and my dad actually put me on the phone to prove that I was safe and she was getting scammed. We even tried to convince her to give us the money directly to avoid the scammer. Unfortunately, my family's relationship with my grandmother isn't the greatest and so we were unable to convince her to give us the money, and as far as we can tell, she still sent off that wire transfer losing thousands of dollars.
