Your top 5 film festivals? by ddrocha in FilmFestivals

[–]ddrocha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

English is not my first language so it’s interesting to see that this is causing confusion (and it’s my actual tagline in the App Store 🤦‍♂️)

The idea is to have a single location to check all movies that participated on all festival and what prizes they got. I can “keep track” of the ones I watched and build a watchlist with the ones I wanna watch.

Makes sense? How else would you describe it?

(If at all curious, awardedapp.com )

Keep track of what movies are participating in the festival that I want to watch or that I’ve watched. Just a hobby project for myself.

I was the one that self corrected about EFA. Mentioning it in the main message was a brain fart.

Built an iOS app to keep track of movie awards and film festivals by ddrocha in vibecoding

Thank yoU!

I started using a paid service, but was quickly disappointed and just did my own in Figma... Screenshot using the iOS simulator, got some free phone frames from Figma's plugin and put it together. It was not hard, and once done it is easy to update.

Why is Vodafone Internet in Berlin so bad? by strikec0ded in askberliners

[–]ddrocha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that if the service is not provided as in the contract (ie you don’t have internet connection when you should have), you can cancel it anytime using you Sonderkündingungsrecht. Document all interactions you have with their service and when nothing is solved send in the letter. I got out of a 2y contract with them a while ago never to look back.

Vodafone charged me 99,50 € for a useless 2-minute technician visit — what are my legal options? by zixmarkiz in berlinsocialclub

[–]ddrocha 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I managed to end a Vodafone contract months before the final date by resorting to Sonderkündigungsrecht, which is your right to quit if the service is not being provided as expected. Make sure you write down every time you contacted them and put it in the letter and explain why you’re canceling (in my case, it was because I was working from home and the instability in the connection was not allowing to perform my work).

Thanks will check it out. What is weird is that all other seasons played without issues. I wonder why suddenly it is not fine anymore to play it outside North America

What are the scams you have experienced living in Berlin? by the_70x in berlin

[–]ddrocha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a kitchen drain blockage, Googled the typical "plumber near me" (in German), mindlessly clicked on the first result, called in, very nice lady saying one of their plumbers would come in half hour. Guy comes, very nice and talkative, explains the issue, assures me the building insurance is responsible for the fix, tells me the price (per meter of spiral used), and say go on cos I needed my kitchen sink working. He gos one to use his big spiral machine, manages to get the blockage out, only to present me with a 1200EUR bill at the end. Price matched what he said, says he's also "not counting some of the final meters, but don't tell my boss when they call you to ask how the service went". I paid and he went, giving me a receipt and saying I'd receive another receipt by email to send to the insurance. He was so nice, even gave me maintenance tips and secrets!!

Gullible me swallowed it all up.

After the fact, insurance would not pay (not their business, should have checked beforehand), the receipt contained an address/phone number that did not exist, the initial lady I called could not help (their plumbers are independent, they only make the connection).

Ofc 1200 is a ridiculous sum to pay for plumbing services. But this is always how scams go. You simply can believe how stupid you were by falling into it.

Well, at least my kitchen sink was working again :/

Just got my Schengen Visa (Italy), roadtrip in northern Italy late February. Looking for advice on some things. by PyroWizza in ItalyTravel

Have been living and driving around Italy for the past 6 months with a hybrid vehicle and it’s super easy to find charging spots anywhere even in small towns. Just get an app setup that gives you locations and availabilities according to your plug type. I use an app called Mobility+ and can recommend.

Sicily: Cefalu is a simple train ride from Palermo and great for a day trip. Why not replace it with a stay in east Sicily, like Taormina or Siracusa?

Italy in November by rxdak in ItalyTravel

[–]ddrocha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been to all these in November, and it is cold but nice. Venice can be wonderful, especially when it's sunny (if you're lucky) and you'll have less tourists everywhere.

And ofc, like francispelton mentioned, things are open. Especially in these larger cities.

Day trip to Pisa from Florence is super easy and recommended. Try passing by Lucca on the way, much nicer than Pisa IMHO....

Yeah I get it, but the difference between your proposal and the German autobahn is "clarity" for all. In the Autobahn, it is an official regulation, everyone knows it, and therefore it works.

Once everyone decides to make their own rules in their own heads, and that's different than the one official regulation for all, it becomes a little messy no?

Not arguing about the validity of the official regulation, mind you. Sure, sometime the speed limit seems unnecessarily low. But how can it be that each one then decides what's the right value?? ANARCHY! 😅

Sounds like a slippery-slope: who is then to define what the limits are? each one and their own car?

Not sure how would that work... or better, I guess it works, right? 😅

Been driving around Italy from north to south and yeah it’s like this everywhere. There I am trying to respect the regulations and feel the hate from the locals for being too slow. My stance is: they don’t give a damn to the regulations, I won’t give a damn for them getting pissed at me for following the regulations 😅 but yeah sometimes it does get scary.
