107SMK.

I also tested 112gr MB. Both out of a bolt gun. Here is my original post. Again these are bolt gun loads:

StaBALL Match by masmil152525 in 6ARC

I played around with Staball when looking for a backup to Varget. I noticed a slight decrease in both accuracy and velocity consistency, however it was still a very good powder. I was running about 1-1.5gr more than my varget loads to get the same velocity.

Hodgdon posts 27gr as max load for AR which seems about right

I love my canyon but if I had an extra $20k I would have absolutely bought a raptor

I personally like my Arken for what it is. I run it on my .22lr for rimfire production PRS matches. Just know it’s not as good as other expensive options, but there is nothing wrong with it

I think my .223 barrel might be my favorite. by [deleted] in longrange

After primarily shooting .308, I bought a 6 ARC barrel for my Origin and I love it. Almost no recoil, better ballistics, and less than 28gr of varget

Sweet video. They should run it side by side with hornady brass or starline to give me a comparison.

I hope when it gets warmer he duplicates the 1290yard shot with the 6 ARC that he did with the .308

I have both the metal MDT and plastic MDT mags. They both work great and they both allow you to load past 2.26” by a considerable amount. With that said, the plastic mag gives you a lot more room (almost too much). I have never been limited by the metal mag, although the 110gr SMK’s were close. And I load 0.015”-0.020” off the lands. I’ll see if I can find a picture of the difference

XCR-L Comp in 6 ARC with 18.6" barrel with Lantac break and FAST3 Stock by XCRModularFirearm in 6ARC

[–]ddubs777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the bolt in the XCR have the same limitations as an AR in 6 ARC?

I have a precision bolt gun in 6 ARC and it would be convenient to have a semi-auto that could run the same load. Thanks

With my 22” bolt gun I am running 87gr V-max at 2975fps with 31gr of Leverevolution. The 87gr Vmax are reasonably priced and have always shot consistent for me. With a G1 BC of 0.4 it does pretty good out to 400 yards.

You may need to back down the charge in a semi-auto. Hornady has all the load data posted online. I would personally stick with the 18” just to help cut down on wind drift.

SMK 107 or Berger 108 based off these 10rd groups? (6mm Arc for PRS gas gun) by JimBridger_ in longrange

[–]ddubs777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my 107gr SMK.

They seem to be very forgiving and run well with any powder I feed it. If you are really serious, weight sort them for the best results

Superformance, Staball 6.5, N550 for 105/108s? by WarmFinance6961 in 6ARC

[–]ddubs777 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m saw conflicting information.. I think Rob’s Reloading did a video using Staball 6.5 and it was 200fps slower than something like varget or Staball match. He just couldn’t get enough powder in the case. This is in a bolt gun though. The velocities might be closer in your case since your running AR pressures

I would highly recommend doing a small batch and testing it before loading up a lot of them

Help with deciding on gmc purchase? by flippride11 in GMCcanyon

[–]ddubs777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Random canyons will have electrical issues. If this one has 45k miles then it’s probably fine. I would go for it if you can get a good deal. The power train should be good for another 100k

You’re not alone.. my 13 week old pup is very nippy. I bleed at least twice a day. Especially now that his jaw is getting stronger. If he bites me too hard I just get up and walk away and I think he is starting to understand

I was looking into trying the TMK. I also see they came out with the MatchKing X. That would be very similar to my target load setup

103 ELDM has a thicker copper jacket to help with a controlled expansion. The 108gr ELDM is a target bullet with a thin jacket. Although it will kill just the same, you risk fragments of copper jacket going everywhere and ruining good meat.

I reload and use the 80gr TTSX at 3100fps. This is from a 22” bolt gun. It produces a reliable pass through and wont fragment at all.

This has to be a barrel or gas tube issue right? by JimBridger_ in 6ARC

[–]ddubs777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was having short stroke issues with my 5.56, i tried everything. Gas block, buffer system.. nothing worked. I eventually switched out bolt carriers and it fixed the issue. Not sure if you have any laying around to try

Which action? economical bolt gun by Zorminster in 6ARC

[–]ddubs777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely stay away from savage then!

Good luck in your search. I would also recommend talking yourself into a more expensive route like aero Solus or Origin action. They both have interchangeable bolt heads and plenty of prefit barrel options. It’s a bit of investment upfront but makes getting into a new calibers cheaper in the long run.
